I don't know if anybody else watched this 3-hour programme (What they call ‘slow TV’) on BBC4 last Sunday evening, but if you didn’t, in my opinion you missed a treat.

The Ghan is regarded to be one of the world’s greatest train journeys. It takes approximately 54 hours to travel the 2,979 kilometres from Adelaide to Darwin via Alice Springs. The programme was entirely without commentary, about 75% filmed from the driving cab and was interspersed with snippets of historical information regarding its construction (by local Aboriginal surveyors and early immigrants) and the areas through which it passes.

You can find it on BBC iPlayer (look in the Channels section, BBC4) and its available for another 4 weeks or so to watch or download.

Great stuff!

Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate.
