Trying out the recently released 1992 TT allows the player to use many routes that don't fet used in the more modern era TT's, and this has highlighted a problem with Branston Ground Frame. When you open the GF window it shows a GPL signal (also shown as a grey GPL on the main sim) on the Down Birmingham Curve with the comment "FIXED GPL OUT UNTIL RELEASE GIVEN". As far as I'm aware, in reality that GPL shows a proceed aspect when the frame is normal to allow trains to be signalled normally from DY136 Sig Birmingham Curve Jn to DY102 Sig Branston Jn. My understanding is that when the frame is released this GPL goes to Danger to protect movements to and from the erstwhile Branston Sidings. As things currently stand in the sim, you have to instruct drivers to pass this GPL signal at Danger when running anything from Birmingham Curve Jn to Branston Jn. Log in to reply |

The Wiki page on Derby ground frames agrees that the signal should be off when the frame is released. Do you have a save of a train standing at the signal?

No I don't Albert, I talked the train by and didn't make a save prior to doing so. The Wiki does not agree that the signal should be off when the frame is released. The wiki incorrectly states that the GPL is normally unlit until the frame is released, but then does correctly state that it displays a red/stop aspect when the frame is released. I spoke to a former Derby PSB signalman this morning and he confirmed what I had written last night in my original post. The GPL is normally 'Off' (not unlit) when the frame is normal and goes back to Danger when the release is given from the box. This signal, as per the sim, was not indicated on the panel. @Phil-jmw, I was mistaken about the meaning of released, I meant the normal state of the frame.

Is talking past BGF4 still the only way? Is this how it would be done in real life? Sim attached with 7G89 standing at BGF4 (greyed out) if anyone can shed any light. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

The greyed out signal has no number and is 'Off' when the GF is 'Normal'. As per my original post and my confirmatory post on 16/04, the signal is returned to Danger when the GF release is given from the box. In the sim the signal incorrectly displays a Danger aspect when the GF is Normal so does indeed require you to instruct trains to pass it at Danger. It is just one of a number of sim bugs that require addressing. Last edited: 24/04/2019 at 16:41 by Phil-jmw Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Banners88 |
