Greetings all,

Just a suggestion if I may.

Whilst the Exeter sim is one of my favourite layouts on SimSig I have often found that, when creating timetables for it, you get quite a few trains entering Bridgwater which either call there and/or have pathing and / or engineering timing allowances attached to them at that point. However if you use Bridgwater as an entry point you can't have a train call there (although I suppose the entry time for the train could be the same as the departure time from Bridgwater) and you can't easily include pathing / engineering timing allowances either. Also if you try and include a Bridgwater stop on a train entering there the timetable doesn't validate without an error message.

Could I therefore suggest that there be two entry time options for Bridgwater as follows:

- "Bridgwater (non-stop)":
This one would be useable for CrossCountry expresses and anything else not calling at Bridgwater. No entry would be required for Bridgwater on the timetable if this option was being used.

- "Bridgwater (stopping)":
Entry time on this one would be the same as the train's arrival time at Bridgwater: the first entry on the timetable would simply need to give the departure time from Bridgwater.

As a side thought I do also sometimes find that the train ID doesn't appear at the entry time for Bridgwater: you get a message in the message window saying that the train has entered but it can be at least 30-60 seconds (I think) before the TD appears at the Bridgwater entry point.

Any thoughts?
Dave

Easier still is to have a non-stop entry with trains coming in at line speed, and a stopping entry with trains coming in at 5mph. Then you can use the departure/passing time at the station without needing to timetable a stop

The difference is negligible. I don't see the point, especially being a virtually unsupported sim now.

Between 5mph accelerating and 125 flat out? Be a minute or two surely?

Agreed this would be worthwhile but I don't understand how this affects pathing/engineering allowance? If a train has 2 mins eng allowance at Bridgewater it will/should pass cogload 2 mins early?

For a start, it's not 125mph.

For a second point, there are far more important things to be doing with our develolpment time that making a fairly solid change to an unsupported sim, and then having to update every single timetable in existance. I have more important things to be worrying about.

Exeter is a loader sim, I doubt that it is virtually unsupported as all developers who have been involved with the sim are still with Simsig, and a quick look at the version history shows that there have been 5 updates released for the sim this year

There is no 125mph track south of Bristol, the line speed here is 100mph, but most services that are stopping at Bridgwater have a max speed of 75, or possibly 90 if it’s a 165/166.
I think it would be negligible in the end.

Allowances, either have the train enter after the allowance, or move them up to cogload jn would be my thought on it

Let me assure you that I speak with authority, that Exeter indeed is virtually unsupported now.

It's one extra entry location, and one path (entry to cogload)

It would require no changes to previous timetables whatsoever.

Perhaps it should be up to the person who has recently been updating the sim to tell us that.

As the person who supports it, I suspect I can speak not only with authority but definitively and can say it is supported. That's not to say every bright idea is implemented immediately or implemented at all, but that's a separate point.
