I know this was an issue with Carlisle exe simulation with freight trains losing large amounts of time.

Has this issue been fixed within the loader version?

Had some class 4/6 losing 10/15 minutes between Oxenholme and Carlisle which seems unrealistic to me when running on green signals now on Loader Carlisle.

Your post is confusing. Are Cl 4/6 losing 10/15 minutes "when running on green signals now on Loader Carlisle" or was that on the exe?

I believe it was a know bug with the exe. sim.

However it appears to be still happening on the Loader version?

And which trains?

Without that sort of information, neither sim developer nor TT writer will know where to look. I was involved in the final production of the TT including many hours testing and I did not see what you are reporting. If there is a problem then please help with enough information for a proper enquiry to take place. I certainly haven't got time to run a full 24 hour check on the TT to find a random train or few that are reported as losing time and I'm pretty sure the developer hasn't either.

John. As I remember it didn't affect the 79-80 timetable, only modern era timings. The class 6s and 7s sometimes gain or loose time but I'd put that down to the original paper timetable not the sim.

I'll try running the 1973 timetable tonight and see if I still have the same issues with all the class 50 hauled workings. That was the killer for that timetable.

Joe

Some of the acceleration rates and weights have been adjusted in the GH Day TT to allow things to run nearer to schedule as compared with the earlier version issued with the .exe. That is why I am trying to pin it down to particular trains in case they are still running to acceleration rates and weights that won't allow timekeeping.

I will carry on and make a note of the trains in question. Are there any other details you need etc?

The headcode and details of how much time was lost and where if possible. I can then check the TT and also the log files created while I was testing to see what happened during the test(s).

Thanks.

It's generally between Tebay and Carlisle that freight doesn't seem to keep to time. I've let 2no class 4s out of Carlisle, and at southwaite they are only doing 40mph. 4M06 and 4M27 for the record, but it's definitely all freight acting in the same slow running manner it did on the .exe. 4M06 passed Plumpton at 47mph.

Seems reasonable enough...that's running up Shap Summit. That sustains grade of 150:1 or steeper for miles.
Going the opposite direction is even worse... the last couple of miles from Tebay to the summit is 75:1

Can you please let me know how much time the trains lost between Carlisle and Carnforth. While I was testing I didn't check the speeds but 4M06 gained just under 2 minutes between Carlisle and Carnforth while 4M27 gained just over 2 minutes. I would reckon that is a pretty good validation of the TT.

I'm currently a client on a Carlisle session playing the 15th October 2009 04:45 TT and I have two trains which I can't understand why they're so slow?

4M34 once looped at Eden Valley UGL once it regains the Up Main will not go any faster then 2mph.

6C02 once looped at Tebay DGL once it regains the Down Main will not go any faster then 2mph.

I understand with gradients that heavy trains do take time to pick up speed but surely they should pick up speed a tad faster then 2mph?

May help if you could get the host to supply a saved game showing the problem.

I don't think that was a bug. The trains would just not run to table over that stretch of line, which isn't unheard of in railways all over the world.

I did ask but they didn't save the session from what they explained.

Yes, but 2mph is even slower than a M*** man with a sniff of overtime!

Hahaha very true, very true. There's one section of line just north of Sydney, Australia frequented by freight trains where a passenger train will take 9 or 10 minutes to run the section but heavy freight is allocated at least 23 minutes to run the same stretch. 2km/h not unheard of in slippery conditions or with dodgy locos!

I found with Carlisle that trains starting onto the gradients will not accelerate quickly enough to be able to gain speed if bad weather is selected - might be worth checking.....?
