Hello, I've been playing SimSig and I am really enjoying it. At the moment I've played mostly Aston and Peterborough. I enjoy those ones where it's not those incredibly complex systems, just something chill, somewhat simple, that is non stop without being overly overloaded. Some people reccomended Portsmouth, but I'm not sure how that fits to my liking. Any tips? Log in to reply |

I like automation, but not too much to the point where you're just a supervisor. I don't really care about which trains I use nor locations. As long as it's not a super slow train I'm fine with it

Take a look at this page. From your first post, it sounds like simulations in the 'Beginner' category would suit your preference, and you might want to consider the less complex ones in the 'Intermediate' category. Take a look also at the 'ARS' category for simulations with ARS fitted; bear in mind you can switch off areas of ARS to give you a suitable workload.

You may find that there's other freeware simulations that you enjoy as well - SwinDid (Swindon and Didcot area) has a good mix of passenger and freight services, and although it has full ARS, you often have to keep an eye on its actions, so it keeps you alert.

It struck me looking for cheap payware that there's no "price list" on the product page. You have to clcik through each sim to get the price. Feels like a bit of an omission. Log in to reply |

It might be that pricing had generally correlated well with simulation complexity and difficulty, but it does feel that way a bit. And yes, SwinDid felt considerably more involved than even...say, Marylebone for normal running to me, when the latter is set to full-ARS mode on default timetable, though it might fail the no-slow-train requirement with some class 7 and the occasional class 8 freight, again depending on timetable era.
