Clearly things are not going to be the same when this terrible scenario is all over and we can maybe get back to living some sort of normality again but hopefully we will see some of our favourite things back up and running again. One can only hope.
From my point of view I do dearly hope that some of our preserved railways will be able to make it through and come out the other side.
It goes without saying that some of us will have different preferences but for me I do hope that the Epping and Ongar line comes alive again. Not a big railway compared to some but more than a match for any when it comes to enthusiasm and willingness to make everyone welcome. A difficulty with not being connected to the mainline and all visiting locos coming via road is more than overcome when galas etc. are put on throughout the year. I visited last year when the garage at the bottom of the entrance road was being used as a location for one of the scenes for the Sky television series Bullet Proof. Lots of gun shots going off and I am now watching it being shown to see if I can recognise anything.
Some of these lines face a sterner test than others to make it out of their enforced lockdown but I do hope that as many as possible succeed.

What are your thoughts on what you are missing and hoping will still be available when this is all over.

Geoff

Some availability of international travel without drastic restriction. Pretty selfish given the circumstances, especially given the fact that it is also one of the causes of the current...situation getting out of hand so fast.

There are, and would still be, so many things out there to see. Even though I myself couldn't have seen much even without this. Probably.

But yes, I was dreaming up some long-term plans for such a trip of a lifetime, including a visit to some of those preserved lines and 'boxes and museums, if such an opportunity would arise. Which I fear is not anytime soon anymore.

In the meantime, please stay safe.
