I've found that sometimes the timetable doesn't step properly and 7Zxx calls in that it's waiting at sig.63 so have to manually reverse (unless I step up the TT before it gets there, which I got into the habit of doing in the .exe version of sim and TT.)

Hi, Not sure this is a mistake as such, but if it isn't, then it's a query as I'm fascinated to know how it would have worked... 5H66 is described as "04+43 EWD ECS Tyseley-Stourbridge Town (TS 2/Cl. 156)" and is 46m long. Was this normal for the Stour Town branch in 1996? I only ever knew it operating with a 153 (although this is since around 2005), and I was under the impression only the 153 fit the platform at Town. If indeed it is a 156 - how was this worked down the branch? Ta! EDIT: Turns out I've already asked this on page 14...! I'm getting old... I've been running timetable on my own steady, I got Monday which was rather good with the amount of freights passing but been Monday when does Rush-Hour start? I got to 06:30 and nothing much out of Birmingham stations. Also which is the best day for most of the freight to be running I though Wednesday? Aaron (AJRO) | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

I'd say any day of the week is busy with freight, however the only difference with Monday is that not alot of freight starts running on a Sunday night so you wouldn't see much during the early hours of Monday mornings. But as the day progresses things get busier freight wise. When you say rush hour, your not in the London suburbs. The majority of passenger traffic in & out of New Street isn't covered by Saltley such as the services towards Walsall, Lichfield TV HL & services heading towards Wolverhampton, Coventry & Stourbridge JN & beyond. What you do get are the services in & out of Birmingham Snow Hill towards Dorridge, Leamington Spa & Stratford Upon Avon, as well as Redditch & Longbridge. When the ECS movements start coming out of Tyseley T&RS<D bound for New Street alot of those trains would depart from New Street via other routes not covewred by Saltley. When in due course I release my summer 14988 timetable for Birmingham New Street the rush hour as you put it is something else entirely especially when you have a varierty of DMUs splitting into 3 different trains in the same platform. The focus of Saltley is predominantly freight activity at Landor Street & the associated workings also involving Washwood Heath Sdgs & Lalweley Street FLT. On the passenger side it pretty much the North East - South West inter regional passenger services supplemented by a 30minute/hourly local & longer distance services to places like Stansted Apt or Cambridge/Norwich. It's not reallylike London Bridge or London Waterloo where you get a rush hour starting at 0600 - 0900 or 1630 - 1830 where there is a blitz of passenger traffic. I don't know what time you are up to at present, but it's not an easy timetable to run on your own. I don't tend to do those.

Thank you for the reply. Rush Hour to me starts round 06.30 until 09.00 and 16.00 to 19.30 but that up here in Preston. As were talking Birmingham here, and with you reply I now understand most take different route from New St. I'll start a fresh game and try a different day maybe a Thursday. I got up to 08.30 in sim time before asking my question, so a little into the timetable but this were going all good at a steady running. I really like this timetable with the amount of freights that do pass about from what I've looked at. Aaron (AJRO) | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

HST125Scorton in post 89552 said:Thank you for the reply. The passenger service in general is less intensive than the present day, and the peak is also a bit more compact. The default TT is similar to what you'd find currently at Preston. The big difference is, of course, a lot more freight traffic serving the various yards in the 1995 TT. I just notice that 6T43 has line DEP set at Tyseley Depot, which it is not able to reach from Bordesley. Should be ARR.

just a minor bug, 6M37D has Dorridge P1 in the down direction, but only P2 and P3 at Dorridge are available in that direction. Also, 6T43WA entered from Washwood Reception before 0T43WMX, presumably a banker or replacement loco, went into Washwood. I can see it does have a rule on its inbound working, 6T43WMX, which comes from Walsall, but no rule regarding 0T43WMX. Log in to reply |
