Sim session terminated mid way; all licenses lost 27/06/2020 at 22:08 #128315 | |

I was playing West Hampstead, which I have owned for quite some time, when the sim alerted me that suddenly I don't have a license and therefore the session will be terminated. I opened the SimSig License manager and find nothing in there. Over the years I have purchased many licenses, but not a sausage. I downloaded the V5 loader the other day (possibly even yesterday). Could someone please explain? Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Coolah |

The license manager was made obsolete in V5, there is no need to open it, and if you do open it it will cause issues with licenses. By default all licenses in V5 are dynamic, and will contact the server to confirm they are free to use, rather than the old system of needing to be locked to a machine. Did you lose internet connection during play? There is a slight issue with licenses not working for users when they are away from an internet connection where they have been locked to a machine (Now done by right clicking on a sim in the loader and selecting lock), but I don't think that applies here. I opened it only when I went to find out why the game ended - not before. No, I didn't lose connection. However, this to me is now an entirely different issue. I often buy licenses when I am being dispatched off to various parts of Africa for work, without a reliable internet connection. While true, it was not stated that I would be able to access them offline, I bought them in good faith that I could do so. To me, this pretty much renders them useless as my ability to use them when I'm not travelling away from my partner is fairly limited. Log in to reply |

Thank you. I misunderstood the part on transition and licenses offline. This thread then has little further purpose. Log in to reply |

Similarly, the server eventually releases the licenses if a phone home hasn't come in for quite a while. I can see from the log files that this is indeed what happened. Nevertheless, we'll look into it, see if anything needs improving. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Is there any way of having SimSig do an autosave before shutting down due to lack of communication with the license server?

However, this does not apparently work after the computer has been asleep, only when it's awake and lost connection. Just a note to thank both GeoffM and headshot119 for the explanation and the hard work. The product continues to get better. Problems appear in all software, such is life, but it appears to be handled well. Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Hap, flabberdacks, headshot119 |

Not sure if it's the same issue, but it has happened twice that I get the error message "License has been removed from this machine. Simulation will now end."
