I was in the middle of running Manchester Piccadilly when a pop up message said "Licence has been removed from this machine. Simulation will now end." The only option is an OK button which when pressed closed the simulation. I immediately re-started the loader and loaded the game from the last autosave without any issues. This would indicate it is a bug that needs fixing.

I can see the server failed to receive multiple messages from your machine so it released the license about 45 minutes ago. Similarly, I assume the client (ie Loader) also detected a failure to reach the server multiple times and so you got the message you quoted. It is working as designed.

So the game must now always be played with an active internet connection? I have checked my logs and no loss of connection was recorded. If your server loses connection then everyone's active game gets closed?

But you can also lock a license to your PC if you're having connectivity problems. The server is in a reliable data centre and the logs don't show any downtime. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

This also means you can't suspend (sleep) your computer with SimSig running I guess, if you want to continue playing? I would suggest having the game give you a chance to connect to the internet to allow it to make an attempt to re-establish the licence before forcibly closing. For instance, the dialogue could have "Retry" and "Exit" buttons. If you click retry and it can't contact the server or the server denies the licence it would just pop up the same dialogue again. Perhaps the message could be a bit clearer. Instead of "Licence has been removed from this machine", change it to something like "Unable to contact licence server". That gives a better idea of what the actual problem is. Log in to reply |

I'm having the same problem with the Chester Sim (the only Sim I have played since getting the latest Loader). Twice, I have left the computer for a while and on returning have found the computer asleep and the "licence removed" message on my screen. It is my normal practice to leave a Sim running whilst I go for e.g. a meal or whatever and it is going to be a right pain in future if every time I do so I have to save and pause the Sim! Our internet connection in "superfast Worcestershire" (misleading advertising warning...) is volatile so all my SimSig simulations have been locked since Loader v5 came into use. No problems. So far. Thanks. Unfortunately I cannot say what version of the licence I was using, as I downloaded an updated version this afternoon - now its V5.3. However, the one I was using earlier was only downloaded last week. I've now locked the licence to the machine as suggested so hopefully will have no more trouble. Thanks for the help. Hi, How do you lock the license to your machine? The Licence manager doesn't show my licenced sims anymore since Loader v5. Cheers, Rob Last edited: 23/07/2020 at 19:15 by fotorob Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I just got this message while playing Edinburgh, and the Simsig quit. I thought it was supposed to create a save when it did this but couldn't find one.
