I was playing Plymouth on the multiplayer game last night where we had plenty of late trains. I noticed when a late train terminated in the platforms at Plymouth ready to form a new service it immediately got TRTS fo its new service. Realistically it would need a few minutes to turn round before it was ready to depart. These trains included Cross Countries from Scotland and Paddington services. We were running the 2009 timetable I think. Calvin Log in to reply |

Think all sims do this sadly, sometimes I just hold them in for a minute or two but think its in the sims code that it TRTS straight away as its departure time has passed. and yup groundhog day TT

Authors have an option to add a custom dwell time to each train type which prevents it from being ready for X mins (Station reverse and terminate reverse) if these aren't defined then the train will be ready a lot quicker. I think it's 6-7 mins booked for a HST reversal for instance, although someone on here can confirm or correct me. "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

Yes, the TT author can configure the turn-around time. TRTS is given up to a minute early - it does not mean the train is actually ready to go though (!). Platform staff IRL tend to anticipate a train being ready, and I've heard numerous reports of them jabbing the button before the arriving train has even come to a stand!

Would assume that allows for cleaning and placing seat reservations etc. Passed the age to be doing 'Spoon Feeding' !!! Last edited: 27/07/2020 at 18:15 by Meld Reason: None given Log in to reply |

You'd literally be just about ready to go in that time. Some of the HST diagrams I've worked over the years have had eight or nine minutes to change ends, and it's just about enough for the driver to change ends and sort everything out. I remember Paddington to Cheltenham diagrams from 2008 having seven minutes to change ends at Gloucester and it was almost impossible to leave on time. Ten minutes is more comfortable for the driver. Even a five-car unit can't be turned round that quickly by one driver. Log in to reply |

If I remember correctly, there were no dwell times set in at least one of the timetables for Plymouth, but I can’t presently find a ticket number on Mantis. Log in to reply |
