Falkland looping problems 2015 timetable 26/12/2020 at 12:24 #135376

I have read the earlier discussion on 6R70, but I am trying to run the 2015 timetable. A lot of freight trains present early -- considerably early -- with delays later in their run that usually require them to wait for time. There seems to be no way to predict that. I end up with both Brownhill loops occupied with Hunterston trains as well as Elderslie UPL for a down Hunterston train. I don't ever remember that happening in real life when I lived at Dalry. However that can be managed, after a fashion.

The big problem is that 6E95 and 6E99 both need to wait simultanously at Falkland yard, for time to start towards Annbank, and I can't get them both in. There is no headshunt to signal them in to. They are too long for the loops at Barassie (if I had tried to hold one back there) and Falkland DGL, and if you let one of them proceed towards Annbank it won't clear the trap points when it stands to wait for time, so that the main line is blocked.

Any ideas? (Obviously I could tell them to abandon timetable, but that rather spoils things, doesn't it?)
