Here is a bit of fun, or if you like, a mini challenge.

At 05:50 (sim time) I was disturbed and had to leave my computer. Alas, I forgot to save beforehand and when I returned some 25 minutes or so later, I noticed that the sim was still running!
There are 11 phone calls, probably mostly trains waiting at a red signal.

If anybody fancies sorting it out, let me know how long it took and I will see how much quicker they did it than me. Please post a save at that point so that I can see the state of affairs :D

Thanks

I sometimes find I've left the sim running for far longer, several hours, and I enjoy trying to sort it out without cancellations and with a minumum of platform alterations. The best sims for this are those with plenty of captive trains or a full set of rules for trains that go off sim and form a later inbound serive.

Why not set your snapshot frequency to, say, every 15 minutes, then you can go back to (almost) where you started. And if you've left it so long that sorting out the mess is impossible (say Three Bridges during the rush hour) then you can go back part but not all of the way and try to recover the service from there.

I suppose that my particular game isn't really that challenging as the sim was only running for short while unattended.

I think that I will leave one running for much longer, maybe Peterborough or Carlisle to start with. Could be fun

There's the famous Derby one in the Downloads section that takes hours and hours to sort out.

Yes I know about the Derby one. It's something that Maxand produced. I haven't tried it yet.

I don't recall seeing this one. Was a save posted on the forum then?

The scenario depicted is that Exeter signalling box had a power outage for a few hours. Here is the uploaded file: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/File/Details/1015

Thanks for the link. I'll give it a go once I have finished my current Central Scotland game

Just loaded up the Exeter Chaos save file and there appears to be a 'ghost' train (2T04) sitting just outside Paignton. It headcode is on the SIM, it appears on the F2 train list, and the tt opens when you click on it, but for some reason the train doesn't seem to exist in the SIM and the track section shows as unoccupied......

Is this a complication of the SIM moving to a higher version than the save, or is there an easy way to overcome this.......?

For the record I have tried to remove the train on the F2 train list but all I get is an error message for 'Access Violation'.

Thanks.

I opened the save game the other day, it's many loader versions behind, and a few sim updates behind as well. Not sure if it'll be curable, and I suspect that ghost train won't be the only issue encountered.

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Actually, it is the only issue I encountered. I created a thread for it a while ago, but got no response. https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/52808
