Hello, Im new to SimSig. You might have seen me on multilayer as BS. I have played 2 sessions now, and im really enjoying SimSig. I have 1 question: Are they any historic simulations available or in development? Thanks, Bruce. Log in to reply |

Depends what you mean by historic. Some Sims offer a selection of layouts in there Start Up for different years. Dave M. Log in to reply |

CScot (Central Scotland) has lever frame signalling with some mechanical signalling (I mean this) areas (between Larbert (or Camelon?) and Dunblane). A couple of the other simulations (Sheffield and Bristol immediately spring to mind) have options at start up allowing a 1980s based mode too. Also, timetables can of course be written as if trains were steam hauled by entering the appropriate train characteristics for each train based on the steam locomotive that the timetable creator either thinks/imagines or knows would be hauling the train - although running a timetable like this in a simulation with no mode options means you'll probably have modern signalling (may depend on the simulation and the era it models) ... but of course a bit of imagination could be used (and where TORR is available, if you leave it turned off then you'll have to cancel the route manually behind the train just like with lever frame signalling (and also with the mechanical areas on CScot)). Hope this helps, a bit. Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Log in to reply |

There are also some 1920s timetables for some of the western sims, I think Exeter and Bristol. However you still have the modern layout so not perfect but as close as you can get
