Not sure if I have missed something, but I had issues getting trains from Lichfield LL to Derby. Whenever I select the signals after the Lichfield Holding Junction and the arrow after it, the response would be 'No route selected'. How do I correct the mistake?

You set the route TV9 to TV7 (Before the Arrow) Them TV7 to AS5.

Where is signal AS5? I'm not sure :P Besides, the game would say that there is no route selected. Last edited: 04/08/2021 at 12:53 by EngGuanWee Reason: None given Log in to reply |

TV7 circled in Red - AS5 circled in blue. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

I tried doing that. But it would cancel the first selection (clicking signal TV7) when I click on signal AS5.

Sorry this is my misunderstanding. There are Absolute block controls that you need to operate between the two locations. https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=simulations:aston You can find information about how to operate it in this link. Scroll down to the section that says "Absolute Block". Otherwise, you can restart the sim and select "Disable Absolute block controls" until you get the hang of it/understanding of it's operations. Hello EngGuanWee, and may I start by saying welcome to the forum! Are you able to provide a save file for where you have got to currently, please? Assuming you are on Windows, this would be a file (the file type is .ssg) in the relevant simulation folder, which in this case sounds like it should be C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\Simulations\Aston (it is assumed you are asking about and having troubles with the Aston simulation). I've had a look at the Aston simulation myself, with the section in question run with Absolute Block and even without Absolute Block, and cannot recreate the issue you have so far described. EngGuanWee in post 140972 said:Here you goSo what you appear to have done there is either sent Train On Line (TOL) before the route has been set from Signal TV7 towards Alrewas (this is the route set to the <| arrow), or you've pulled (cancelled) the route from Signal TV7, either of which course of action has effectively 'locked up' the Absolute Block system. To recover from this, either load a previous save and set the route in the correct order (more on this in the next paragraph), or you can navigate across to the Absolute Block controls at Alrewas (the 'left hand box above the track'), right click on the little OVR button, wait it out (2 minutes), then right click on the white N button for the down direction, then go through the Absolute Block process then set the route in the correct order. Note that after setting the route from Signal TV7 towards the aforementioned arrow, the next step is to wait for the slot to be granted by the Derby signaller, then lower and clear the crossing at Alrewas, before then setting the route from Signal AS5 towards Signal DY78 - this is the 'second' greyed out signal, 'at the very end of the track'. In regard to setting the route in the correct order, and in particular regarding working the Absolute Block equipment: Whilst the Aston simulation manual is possibly somewhat lacking in instruction on this, the relevant part of the simulation manual for the unfortunately now obsolete Worksop simulation shows what is effectively the same 'version' of Absolute Block by SimSig, with the only difference being you are trying to send a train in the Down direction rather than the Up direction. I hope that this helps. Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. EngGuanWee in post 140976 said:Cheers mate, that really helped! Not a problem; happy to help. Further to my previous post, here's a very quickly put together run-through video of the steps required to set the route in question: https://youtu.be/Ms2TBARpmvk Note that I probably haven't sent Train On Line (TOL) at the right moment (should probably be sent after the train has passed Signal TV7 / after the train has entered the Absolute Block section), but in my defence sending TOL after I have set the route is my own personal standard procedure if or when playing solo as this can save overlooking the sending of TOL when it is too late, at which point you could end up 'locking up' the Absolute Block section - probably easily doable in this case with what I believe is a relatively short Absolute Block section. Train entering section (which in reality would be the cue for the Alrewas signaller to peg train on line) should be sent when the train passes the box 'or the location shown in the Signal Box Special Instructions'). In this case, though the box isn't shown on the sim, I believe it's opposite the junction. There is no requirement whatever to wait for the train to pass the section signal.
