One issue already known is that some trains timed to stop at Shotton are arriving slightly later than scheduled. I suspect the Sectional Running Time has been reduced due to the resignalling works occurring after the sim’ era.

Thanks
Jamie

A couple of very minor observations from lunchtime, day one

All ME Electrics seem to be booked to call at Capenhurst, which isn't the case at the moment (it's half hourly for the most part with alternate services skipping it)

The 3D** from Crewe/Chester to Llandudno are the new CAF 197s out testing rather than 158s as shown

The TT description in the F4 window shows the "17th-19th March May"

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Thanks. I'll update the stock types for 3Dxx and correct the description data. This will be published in v1.2.

I checked back on Charlwood House and the services are shown as all stopping on all three days, so the alternating service must have come in after 19th March.

Thanks
Jamie

Thanks for the timetable - I enjoyed it.

I wonder if there ought to be a rule on the Crewe-Chester shuttles. From the descriptions, it appears to be the same brace of 153s shuttling to and fro. I ended up with delays on, and this shuttle was now an hour late. At some point, the train was just leaving Chester to go back to Crewe when the next in bound ended up entering to go to Chester. In the notes, they are the same units. Perhaps a rule requiring them to inherit the delay?

Also the various 3XXX services don't seem to be balanced. I had a 3XXX go towards Liverpool via the Halton Curve, but then it never came back. I had assumed it would at some point, and there were paths for it to come back. Can't imagine Lime Street were thrilled having the unit clogging up their station for that long.

From a quick look at RealTimeTrains, this looks like a single unit running continuously with 5 minute turnarounds, resulting in a train every hour from Chester. If the train ends up 55 minutes late, it probably would just skip over one cycle, then have a 10 minute turnaround and be back on time. I would argue the lack of a rule is a better option for what would be happening in the real situation.

The 3B services between LIV and CTR are coded to appear and disappear very randomly as they are Q paths. Perhaps the unit secretly got coupled up?

Difficult to know whether to add rules for CTR shuttles, extended delays are quite rare and in any case it would be easy to swap diagrams. Cancellations can be made in F4 by marking a service as entered. However, given the short distance from the edge of the sim there would be little opportunity for controllers to change plans.

I'll ponder on it and may add some rules in the next release.

Thanks
Jamie

As these are either crew training or testing runs, it would make sense for anything that goes to Liverpool to come back again later on- it's very unlikely they'd be coupling to anything at Lime Street, if they're 197s they definitely won't be coupling to anything.

Thanks John,

The trains are reported in the data as Sprinter class MXS=75, so I'm confident they aren't 197's. But I'll create rules for 3B03 to appear iff 3B02 runs, ditto 3B06 thru 3B15.
Interestingly, they are planned to take up to 30 mins to run from HALTONJ to LVRPLSH, but only 20 in the return direction!

Cheers
Jamie

While yes, I could be more proactive and have cancelled it doesn't change the base logic. The description has unit numbers for each working, and a set of units cannot be in two places at once. While it's unusual/unlikely as one person wrote, rules are there for the unusual, surely?

The point on the driver training units might be true, they might get bolted on to something else. I raise it as a question as to my mind it was a little unusual but I was not there at the time.

Overall, this was a fun timetable and thanks again.

Hi Jamie,

I've noticed the 507/508s seem to immediately dispatch when reversing from a terminus when running late (e.g. Chester/Ellesmere Port etc) even though crew would need to change ends, maybe need a value in the "Terminate Reverse" box?

Great stuff. Really enjoying the timetable, the unit allocations are an excellent extra touch for realism.

Zero times should default to the core coded 'sensible' values including walking times, but somewhere deep in the mists of time (some of) this stopped working.

Hi all,

I've updated the timetables in the chain to correct speed classes, minor timing changes and dwell times: Hereford, Shrewsbury, NE Wales, Chester & North Wales.

Thanks
Jamie
