I'm attempting to signal a down (southbound) train from the Up line/P1 to the Up Relief, but the route refuses to prove, the signals are just flashing when I'm trying to set a main route from signal G27 to G49. I've attempted all possible overlaps and nothing seems to work. A shunt route set via the two shunt signals on the UR line does work, however. G27 - G33 - G31 - G29.

Simulation error or real life restriction? Seems odd to have the interlocking allow a route that won't clear.

Surely you mean from G49 to G29? Generally when describing an NX route, you list the entry signal first, then the exit. G49 is on the Up Main, G29 is on the Up Refuge, while G27 is on the Down Main - all in the Down direction. It doesn't make any sense to set a route from G27 to G49.

Trying it myself, it does let me set a route from G49 to G29 which, indeed, never clears even when a train comes to a stand at it. Setting the shunt route step by step, via G33 and G31, seems to work fine. The route from G49 to G27 does clear straight away (and would put a train on the Down Main).

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Thanks for the correction, I don't know how I managed to get the signal numbers confused.

G49 to G29 was of course what I meant.
