Very comprehensive and enjoyable simulation if a little difficult! However, I have 2 queries which I believe have been discussed already but I am still a little perplexed:

1) 4S19, booked to terminate at Carlisle to change engines prior to forward working via Dumfries. New loco has to be diesel as line from Gretna Jn. to Dumfries is not electrified. Engine from Wapping sidings is shown as diesel and yet when coupling is complete, the forward timetable assigned to 4S19 will not accept that the new loco is diesel and forward working is impossible. I get round this by abandoning the timetable and letting the train run without a timetable, which is not as it should be. Help here would be appreciated.

2) The 79-80 Carlisle timetables offer scenarios with 'Main Lines at Upperby closed' and 'Main lines at Kingmoor closed'. Although the Upperby closure is workable, the Kingmoor closure presents problems which are not easily resolved. I believe the Kingmoor closure has already been discussed somewhere but I'm not sure of the outcome of this discussion. Of course, I normally use the simulation with no closures or restrictions!

I do apologise if these queries have already been answered but I haven't yet seen a clear and explicit resolution.

I'm away from my laptop and the sim so can't answer 1) but with 2) the simulation, rather than the timetable is offering various closure scenarios which will be offered regardless of selected timetable. The timetable notes do state somewhere it is really compatible with any failure or delay scenarios.

4S19 traction is a known issue with the timetable, previously confirmed in the timetable discussion thread

Scenarios are independent of the timetable chosen.

Occasionally you will see a timetable which is 'designed to work with' a particular scenario.

Outside that, activating a scenario runs the risk of making a timetable such as this Carlisle one so difficult as to be unachievable.

There are some really good combinations of scenario and timetable - Wembley Mainline comes to mind, if you select the 'A and B roads closed' scenario with the 2012 olympics timetable. Some excellent regulation questions asked there, but you can keep it flowing.

One thing to say about the Carlisle 1979-1980 timetable, is that when I wrote this timetable apart from using the WTTs of the day I also own a copy of the 1979-1980 Carlisle arribal & departure book owned originally by one of the signallers in Carlisle PSB at that time & none of the lines on Carlisle PSB were closed. So when the TT was writen it was written with everything running normally. So if you decide to run this timetable with a scenario with either lines & or platforms closed the TT won't work & you'll end up abandoning the game. You should run this TT without any scenarios & that goes for all the timetables I write to run on SimSig sims. Even with everything running normally my TTs are hard enough to keep everything moving instead of closing bits. The other issue you tend to get too is regarding lcos changing from diesel to electric or visa versa all those moves tend to have dedicated platforms where they took places trying to move them around can cause issues with the joins etc.

Thanks to all responders to my questions but I'm still in the dark about what I should do with 4S19 on arrival at Carlisle. How do I get this train moving from Carlisle towards Dumfries given that the loco change is not accepted for the forward working?

How do I get round the issue? Remove train or run with TT disabled?

Do you a save game available that you can upload to save me from running the TT from start, so I can try something.

Thanks

EDIT:

I've ran through it. 4S19/DMX is showing as AC rather than Diesel in the train characteristics. This needs to be changed.

If you go into the F4, Timetable tab. Scroll down until you find 4S19/4S19DMX. Double click it and go into Train characteristics. Uncheck AC on initial power and then Power types and then check Diesel on both. ok that and then close the menu. Go into your train list and right click on 4S19, timetable options, run to another timetable and select 4S19/4S19DMX. next location Carlisle and hit Run to TT.

This should get you moving. I appreciate that it's a bit of faffing about, but until the TT is sorted by the author, that's your option to get it moving.

No saved game yet! Working through yet another enjoyable 79-80 game; when I reach operation of 4S19 in sim., will hopefully be able to send saved game. However, I would point out that the changeover loco OS19 from Wapping sidings shows diesel traction!

Yeah, please see above. I have amended my post. If you haven't reached this point in the game yet, then go into the F4 and change 4S19D in the train characteristics to Diesel rather than AC. This should solve the problem before you even come across it then.
