Trying to set the route into Fowey Docks (where the Carne Point no doubt is located) results in the driver of 6G06 calling reporting wrong route from Lostwithiel, LL57. EDIT: I realize, after reading on the particulars of this area in the simulation manual, that this is the expected behavior of failing to release the train staff on time, though I still consider this a poor behavior as it causes confusion. In other cases, as close as on Plymouth sim, a similar case of not releasing the staff causes the train driver to ask you for the staff instead. Included is a snapshot where the driver either is just about to or has already called about the matter, but no response has been given yet. Rocangus Post has attachments. Log in to view them. From the manual: Quote: The branch to the clay sidings at Fowey Docks Carne Point is operated with a train staff normally kept in Lostwithiel Signal Box. It is not interlocked with the signals. Did you perhaps forget to release the staff? Log in to reply |

Yes, though as written in the edited post, I believe the solution to have the wrong route call happen is inappropriate as it certainly confused me. Yes, reading the simulation manual first is important, though this feels inconsistant considering other similar cases will have the driver ask you about releasing the staff rather than report wrong route.

The reason it's been done like this is because LL57 isn't interlocked with the train staff in real life (It's a free pull), the wrong route call is replicating the driver querying the fact you've not handed over the train staff. Perhaps a slight change to the wording would help? "Driver of 6G06 is querying the route set at signal LL57 (Lostwithiel area): You've forgotten to give me the Fowey Branch Staff signaller!" might be clearer? Without boring everyone too much, using a custom wrong route call here gave 100% reliability of the driver not going down the branch without the staff, other methods tried with what can be achieved were less reliable. "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply |
