Greetings all, I've found a copy of the working timetable CB dated September to December 2004 which covers services from Euston to Tring and I've came across a timing type that I'm not too sure if I'm right or not. Basically some trains say 11087385, some trains have 10086385 or HST8-110 now that being said would I be right in thinking that those timing types mean the following: 11087385: Max Speed is 110mph Traction Type is Class 87 Length of train is 385m I'm sure it is the case but I just want to be absolutely sure. Timing load = 385 tons, not length Means a standard WCML mk3 set, DVT + 8 x mk3 https://tomcurtisrailgallery.weebly.com/uploads/6/9/0/3/6903499/87029lbizzard02112003.jpg Bill Log in to reply The following user said thank you: ajax103 |

Afternoon, 11087385 = max speed 110, hauled by a Cl.87/Cl.90, 385 is tonnage - usually 8 Mk3s+Mk3 DVT 10086385 = max speed 100, hauled by Cl.86/2, Cl.87 or Cl.90, usually 5/6 Mk2s+Mk3 Buffet+2/3 Mk2s+Mk3 DVT (formations differed) HST8-110 = 2+8 timed at 110, although capable of 125. HTH When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. Someone sneezed at Swansea - 2A. A driver complains the cab is too cold - 2A. Unable to operate a HEx service 4 vice 8 - 2A. Points failure at Ipswich - 2A. Landslip at Pitlochry - 2A Log in to reply The following user said thank you: ajax103 |

I appreciate the answer has been given, but to add to them, there should be an explanatory notes table near the front which explains the timing load breakdown, as by that time there were also some confusing ones introduced for freight as well.

If you refer to page CB3 of the said timetable the explanatory note is at the top of the page under the heading “Timing loads in Working Timetables” The explanation of HST8 can be found at the bottom page CB5 meaning a HST set of 8 carriages and it’s speed.
