2L87: 1550 Liskeard > Looe struck a vehicle at Coombe Junction level crossing earlier today 24/5. The line between Liskeard and Looe (for obvious reasons) remains closed while the investigation is ongoing. Only minor injuries to both drivers of the car and train, they were treated on-site. The unit (150234) was removed from the site at 1935 hrs, approximately 3 hours after the incident.

I believe the incident was caused by a motorist who called the signaller to get permission to cross the line, but left the gates open so they could simply go back across on their return a few minutes later, without calling in again for permission. And that's when the train came round the corner from Liskeard ...
