Judging by the various posts/comments regarding the Crewe simulation, it's quite a difficult sim to play. Will the Doncaster Station sim be just as difficult? I was just wondering. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

Crewe isn’t a bad simulation and depending on how much you can handle it can easily be done solo.

I reckon Doncaster Station (Centre) would be akin to Carlisle. Yes there is a few more yards but would make an interesting play. Crewe is medium once you get head around all the locations & yards. I've done done Crewe single handed last few days with one hand for a mouse and Keyboard!.

From the point of view of testing both, Doncaster is easier I would say. The Panel layout is Smaller, clearer (no jumping to the goods lines like in Crewe, No AB) and you're doing the work of two Signallers, not umpteen smaller boxes. There are complications like ensuring trains cross the junctions at both ends of the station in the right order, and handling traffic in the yards, but that comes with "learning the job" so to speak. The main challenge comes with delays when you have to get stuff through a restrictive station layout and over the ECML between fast trains. It will be well worth the wait.

That's great to here. Can't wait for the sim now. ECML Megachain will be amazing.

Doncaster Station is on my wanted list and I look forward to it becoming available one day, whenever that might be. An ECML megachain would indeed be great fun. Dave Log in to reply |

jc92. Thanks for giving an insight. It sounds really good and as I'm familiar with the area, I think that would make it more enjoyable to play. I did play a Doncaster sim many years ago. I can't remember the mane of the software, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as SimSig. So, I'm looking forward to it's release. Might even try chaining to North or South once I get used to it. If that's possible of coarse Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

A lot of the time it can depend on knowledge of the location. I work at the heritage centre in Crewe so I've been to Crewe enough times to near enough tell the timetable off by heart!

Hopefully this will be released at some point.... Shame other sims have overtaken Panel 2 and 3's release.

When there's multiple projects ongoing, the likelihood of all sims being at different stages of readiness is high. A lot of time is going into testing and hopefully it will be with everyone soon.
