Hi!
I would like to translate the Hong Kong East simulation manual into Chinese, since the simulation is based on a Chinese-speaking region. Also I believe that many new players will be benefited from the translation as the simulation is relatively large and often need to refer to the manual for a clearer understanding.

If anyone is working on this, I would like to join the team and work together!
Else, can anyone kindly provides help to me for starting with it?(e.g how to start a translated version page from the original manual page?) As I don't have a previous experience on wiki editing.

I would try my best to provide my best translation, but there may be some error on some terms or wordings as the local railway is not often willing to disclose railway information to public.

Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank you!

(pls tell me if i am not allow to do this sry lol)

It's probably worth talking to user @KCRCRailway as they have mentioned translating into Chinese very recently in this thread.

In addition, HKE was developed with assistance from some people with direct knowledge of the system. I don't know if any of them are reading this thread but, if they are, perhaps they will get in touch with you directly.

Why not? 🫠

I first requested this Simsig forum a decade and more ago to make a simulation for the East Rail Line and end up it was published in 2019 through hard work by Clive and very kind offers from GeoffM plus their team. Collaboration between Simsig people and the community is how we can keep Simsig's dynamic.

The sim has been published for a few years and I know we still have to work on the cab-signalling block to make it perfect. I have just asked Clive to see if they have spare development effort on that as we all know updates for different National Rail sims are still pending like adding Canal Tunnels (and ARS as well? 😂for King's Cross and new track layouts for Peterborough.

It would be better to sort technical issues out before editing many lines of the sim manual. Let me also share the real workstation of this simulation, it is called TCS and was built by Alstom in the late 1990s. Be sure to look at overlaps in the picture.

Please also let me share some screenshots during the development stage:

(It makes me feel a bit old when looking at the date 😩)

Sure! I got some idea on how this can work---You can join the Unofficial QQ group of Chinese user here: 632235441, we managed to find 33 interested (not saying all are actually playing though but do managed to get some fresh face trying to play SimSig now).
If you find it a bit uncomfortable to join the QQ group you can DM me here or send email to fakekcrc@gmail.com
Or you can just start working and if I feel something went wrong I can DM you or just edit the wiki if you dont mind.
I must declare that I did NOT work in the railway industry so if you want anything accurate on technical part, it will be wise to ask MM21, WR_hx2003 and others who actually knows the detail and how things worked.
You may also contact SS9g0045 who worked with me together, we are currently working on getting Brighton done, after that probably Royston (Thanks Clive for the manual---oh wait, should just thank everyone who contributed to SimSig )
On how to edit wiki, check https://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:syntax , also check https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=editors .
I'm looking forward to see you joining us on QQ so we can tackle not only HKE but other manuals on SimSig efficiently!

Hi! It’s always good to have more people working on these translation stuff. I was first introduced to this simulator in a forum a few years ago, and produced 2 not-so-successful Chinese tutorial videos. I‘ve always wanted to make some Chinese contents for HKE, but struggled with format since this map has many distinct features.
The wiki editor is generally easy to use. We worked on one of the sandbox pages for the kingsx manual translation and it’s still there in the sandbox area. Hopefully that would be useful for you as a format reference.
KCRC has provided our contact methods above. Looking forward to hearing from you!

@KCRCRailway sorry I am still a bit confused of how it works after reading several pages. If I want to start, should I edit the Styling Test Page 1? If I didn't get it wrong, we can draft the translation on these page? Thx

You can use Styling Test Page 3 and start changing stuff of it from Kings Cross to HKE, I suggest leaving Page 1/2 empty for others who might want to draft stuff. I saw your email and will reply tonight if I got time.

Hi guys!
As I was editing, I was stuck at a point, related to the location name.
Does anyone know the the correct location name of Kowloon Yard is 九龍貨場(it means Kowloon Yard literally) or 紅磡貨場(it means Hung Hom Yard literally)? For context, Hung Hom station was orginally named Kowloon station and got its new name at 1998 Oct, while the new signalling system was installed at 1998 Sep.
I researched online and got both results available from different source, would anyone know this can tell me which one is correct? Thank you

I will say that follow what was used in the english manual will be fine. It might also retain the old name on the original panel IRL too.

That part of the sim is based on a scheme plan dated 2002-03-21. That has "KOWLOON GOODS YARD" in big letters at the top.

A 2006 plan of Hung Hom and a 2008 one both have "TO KOWLOON GOODS YARD".

Hello, I was translating the manual (yep again) and I would like to point out something in the original manual.
According to my own knowledge, I think the signal aspect clear to blue when a train equipped with cab signalling approaches but not when a ATO train approaches. Cab signal(ATP) is the main thing and ATO is just obeying ATP's command. This can be seen in the sim too as not in service train are operated in manual mode and they proceed with blue aspect.

https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=simulations:hongkongeast#cab_signalling_and_ato just above headway board section

Thank you.
