Is it possible to have platform 3 extended from 80m in sim to the actual 90m? It is listed in the SA as 87m but was continued on by 3m more to 90m to allow a 87m train sit in comfortably. This is for the current era 2009 onwards. I did mention this in an older locked post: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/53267 As you know Platform 2 was closed to allow the extension of Platform 3 to be done. 92m trains can't use Platform 3 and have to use Platform 1. But other stock like 150+156 combos (87m) and the now gone 319s (82m) all used Platform 3. For what it worth, four car 331s can also use it. It's tight but doable.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: HST125Scorton |

There about 95m in length! That is a snug fit. Although not I've seen a 4 car 331 in there but a mix of 15x combos and 3 car 331s. I'm sure 2x 158s used to go into P3 but not 100% sure as they only seen them in P1.

Very snug, but there is a method of work for it. When the four cars first appeared it caused a few issues as they are too long for the length in the SA so some drivers questioned it but if 1 is occupied and you call it in at WN43 you don't have much choice. A full brief was then released so everyone knows it can be done now though I've always been put in on 1 in a four car.

For the record, it would appear both P2 and P3 TCs (T15/16) are 90m long, so should fit, albeit a train over 87m long may need a stop posn of FX @ 0m (or NX 0m) to pull up tight to the buffer stops.

There is also a short overlap on each of the platform starting signals, so while a train will fit in, it may be sat slightly ahead of the starter. Thank you for that Andy & James, I had a 150/156 combo at 87m seeded at 0m in P3 for a 0823 service to Man Vic via Crow Nest Jn. I tried a couple of trains anything that's bigger than 90m like 2x 158s or a 4 Car 331 will need to go into Plat 1 otherwise it will overhang.
