I am putting together an old timetable which has hauled stock at Oxley.
As such for the daytime turnbacks I am sending a loco into wash roads (so the shunter random choice applies) but would then want the train to emerge from wherever the loco went in. Conversely to be able to fix in the timetable where the shunter chooses for the loco and then a fixed exit will match.

Loco being accepted into Wash3 and the clearly related train then entering from Wash1 is not how it worked and looks badly on my timetable.

Has anyone found a way to align with the 'shunters choice' ?

Maybe stepping back a train so the user forgets where the loco went in ?
Anyone recall whether the set turn around was 20 mins or 1h20 mins ? I assume daytime the sets were not washed each time.
Did the loco step back as well ?

How does the 'shunters choice' work? One option could be to have the 'shunters choice' pick one of two UIDs with the TTs written to direct the train to the correct road. The parent train would then have two actions of N $XXXX1and N $XXXX2 each action being tied to the 'shunters choice' decision. You could then have two UIDs for the return each governed by a rule that must enter x minutes after the sister UID left the area or governed by the original decision. Both of the returning TTs would then point to the same action like N YYYY.

'Shunters choice' is built into the sim, it is not a 'Decision'. I do not see a way to force the shunter choice with a platform number.

I believe it is random which line the shunter allocates, subject to background logic that replicates the time needed to service the stock so you should not get another 'Wash1' for 20 minutes after the first 'Wash1'. I don't think it counts trains though, so it won't stop 4 into the 3 through roads before any come out, they will still go in.

Note that 'Wash Road' is not the carriage washer. Current use is preparation after wash as they do toilets first in 6&7, historic was reception waiting for wash (I think).

Bit like the Westbury Yard situation then where train goes into one fan of sidings and comes out from the other! Doesn't materially affect the operation of the sim, just looks horribly wrong if you have spent your life working on the logistics of things. I get similarly twitchy about Ayr CS where you have to put a siding number in to the TT for the TT to validate but then the shunter tells you to go to the other siding and you get an "off planned route" message.
