Sorry it's been irking me for ages... the bottom bar of the hamburger icon is 1 pixel too low, and the gap on the right is 3 pixels and on the left it's 2 pixels... is this deliberate or can this be straightened up a bit? Yes, it's a 1 pixel difference but that's a 20% difference here, and it really does draw the eye - or at least my eye. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. I’m fairly sure the majority of the user interface leverages built-in windows stuff; rather than being drawn by SimSig - happy to be corrected mind

Yeah, this isn't from any built-in icon library... Here's how it looks normal size and adjusted (bottom bar moved up 1px, all bars extended right 1px): Post has attachments. Log in to view them. (named for the one in Tasmania, not in Russia) Log in to reply |

Could I just ask what OS you are using? I ask simply to get an idea of how this looks and measures up against different OS. I'd like a bit more information, and from others as too, to how this looks on their systems. After a bit of info has been gathered on it, then we could look at putting it onto mantis on a low priority asthetic adjustment. HST125Scorton in post 158919 said:Windows 11 24H2 Looks like you have your display scale set to 150%? (Settings > System > Display > Scale & Layout > Scale) The third bar is still further away but there's anti-aliasing (blurred edges). My screen is set to 100% scale and the elements line up exactly with pixel boundaries. Here's an unedited screenshot for comparison: Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Surly there are bigger fish to fry or post than the hamburger being wonky! Its not really a show stopper. Thanks, D07 Log in to reply The following user said thank you: jc92 |

Any member of the community can post anything they wish to if they feel like it is something that is worth reporting. This includes, but not limited to, small asthetic discrepencies. Whether we can do something about it or not is what we will take away from such reports and we will continue to follow our normal reporting procedures and feedback to our community with an outcome. We wouldn't and don't want to discourage anyone from feeling unable to post issues because it's not a problem to someone else. Yup, it's a small issue (hard to be smaller than 1px!) but it stood out to me immediately back when the menu button was introduced, it looks rushed, and it unfairly cheapens SimSig. And (I expect) it's easy, quick, and non-urgent to fix it - no point raising minor issues if they're not proportionately easy to fix. On a related tangent - there's a series of youtube videos by a composer and software developer, analysing the design and user experience of various engraving software (what composers use to lay out sheet music). I'm not a musician but they're very entertaining to watch - and he talks about the importance of icon designs a bit from 6:30 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hZxo96x48A (named for the one in Tasmania, not in Russia) Last edited: 21/10/2024 at 10:19 by DonRiver Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Here's how it looks on Linux under Wine (Debian, KDE Plasma) - i.e. the icon is the same, just the framing is different Post has attachments. Log in to view them. (named for the one in Tasmania, not in Russia) Log in to reply |
