I'd like to play both Bristol and Exeter simulations together or Bristol and Gloucester together on the same computer. How do you do this ? Could some please provide a step by step guide please? or a direct link to how to please? I know this has more than likley been covered 1001 times but I cant find a step by step guide. Thanks Bluebird. Log in to reply |

Probably needs to be added to the Wiki but to chain internally the IP address is 127.0.0.1 Actually it's here. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Bear in mind you also need to have a compatible timetable for every sim in a chain, otherwise you'll get some odd train behaviours when they move between boxes.

Any Sims that are chainable across the internet can be chained within a single computer. Chaining between three or more different Sims can also be done within one computer. For reasons of your sanity SimSig does not encourage such action! Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Thanks for all the information, but Ive followed the intructions and there are some bits that dont make sense (to me) such a click the chained tab...I cant see anything with that on in Network Play section? Do I need to copy and paste the IP address into the slave sim also ? even though it is on the same computer ? All I get is attempting to connect to server please wait....... Then. Failed to connect to server or XX server diconnected...... Any ideas ? Thanks. Log in to reply |

Based on 2 Sims: You start both sims through the "network play" option. Both sims are launched as servers but with different PORT numbers. You then choose one and link it to the other through the multiplayer/connect to external signalbox options. There you enter the IP address (whatever we said it was ) and the port number - which I think is that of the target sim. If you are getting the message you are getting then maybe you are using the wrong port so try the other. Otherwise you may need to check your ports are actually open there's a thread on "Port Checker" somewhere if you do a search or search the internet for the download. If you still have a problem then it maybe firewall or something like that. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
