Hello all, i just want to introduce myself to you. My name is Christoph and i am 34 years old and from Frankfurt, Germany. I am a civil servant working in the German Federal Railway Authority ( www.eba.bund.de ), coordinating railtrack sharing. Railfanning is a hobby of mine since i can remember. In the last few month i began investigating in the railway organisation in the UK and i became an advocate for the british way of doing the tings. We in Germany have a discussion here about the future of our Deutsche Bahn and the privatisation of the network, and after learning, how the Networkrail manages the things on the island, i began to see some things in Germany very different. Now i belive that the breackup of network and train operation should be in at least two different hands. If you are intrested, i can explain it in detail to you, how German railoperation works. While on the search for informations about UK Rail, i found this stunning simulation site and from the first moment on, i was addicted to this great work. I especially enjoy the simulations of the scottish area. I want to say thank ypu to the developers of this sim and i hope, that there will be more to come. I apologize for my englilsh, but school is long ago and i usually just talk english. Greetings Christoph Log in to reply |

Hi Christoph Do not worry about your English, it is very good. There are many in the UK who feel that the way that privatisation has been structured was a mistake, by creating an industry that was too fragmented and therefore lacked co-ordination, as well as pushing up costs without improving the end product. Much of the network is of course operated by DB owned companies now, including both passenger and freight operators. Brian Log in to reply |

Christoph, I see on various forums (fora?) British people who don't write English as well as you do!
