2012 Meets

My next two subject of research is Glasgow and Edinburgh....... however I seem to have my own debate on this matter as in whether I should be researching both or only one of them as they are both very much so close together and also in same part of Scotland what do others think about this.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are completely different cities and should be considered as such.

I've moved the Wiki text to its own subpage and tidied it up. What I have noticed is that although there have been suggestions of which cities to visit, there are no suggestions of actual pubs which is a major factor. Remember that such a venue has to feed and water 40-50 people, with at least half of those seated.

I've also taken the liberty of including my earlier comments which appear to have been overlooked.

I'd be very wary about recommending venues based on [online?] reviews - it is all too easy for a venue to write all the positive reviews themselves to up their rating and get customers in then provide poor service.

A fair few of the locations listed don't really fulfil that requirement. Travelling time from all corners of the UK (and airports for some SimSiggers) should be taken into account.

For example, Guildford is really only for those in the South East and the West (via Reading), and is a bit useless for those much further North whereas Birmingham is good for transport links to all over the country. By this logic, I consider Southampton to be an insane option. I don't think it's fair to pick a location that would limit the number of attendees due to travelling distance, time and cost.

I think what the term meant by South being missed is except for London nothing is done where as other areas seem to have it all.. or at least that is my interrelation to it.

But for those who dont live near or on a main route ECML or WCML we have to change trains sometimes several times to get there, for me Wakefield was 2 changes, London was direct and Derby will be 2/3 changes.. I am not sure direct trains should be one of the conditions if its to be a fair choice for all those going.

Ironically I thought Birmingham might be a pain, but it turns out it's actually fairly easy and not much more expensive than Derby.. I could even go via London and up the WCML if needs be, although that would cost a little more.

If there isn't going to be a London meet in 2012, then perhaps whatever replaces it should still be *fairly* close to it (e.g not Edinburgh - not that I've got anything against that as an additional meet).

Erm without being harsh i saying this but have you not realized what is going on in London in July 2012.

In fact in a recent conversation with Alan and Karl we have since discovered that a lot off areas in July are going to be troublesome.

Just set the dates asap... it would help some people :-P
