Light Engines to Toton North yard 17/08/2011 at 17:56 #19530 | |

Hello, on Trent v.3.8121 I'm having trouble getting light engines from Toton TMD to Toton North Yard. One example is train 0D77. All it has to do is move from TMD past signal SS95 then into North yard from the up direction, I can set the route ok, but signal 201 never clears, and the train always refuses to pass the red signal 201. I try to ask for a slot into the yard, but I get "cannot give slot due to conflicting route locking", regardless of whether a route is set, or not. I've tried asking for the slot before setting the route, after setting the route, and I've tried setting the rout without asking for a slot. There are no other trains anywhere near the entrance to the yard. I can request a slot into the yard from the down direction (which is the wrong side for me really), but the request is never answered. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, and the only thing that solves the problem is to remove the train completely. Can anyone help? Log in to reply |

Ok; I've just opened up Trent and checked the routes. I can't see where you're going either but I can confirm you do not need a slot as you send it in in the up end which you control. I set the routes without any problems. Other than that, I can't help but at least that removes one possible permutation of options out of the ideas.

The Totton slots can take an age. I've learnt (the hard way) to request the slot as soon as an inbound appears in the sim. Can take 20+ mins at times. The yard operator (is it DBS nowadays?) would be paying a fortune in penalties to Network Rail for blocking (and accrued delays on) running lines in present day ops!

This is Toton North Yard we're talking about not Toton Up Sidings. No need to request a slot in this case for the train.

Thanks for that. I've tried not requesting a slot as well, as I got the impression I didn't need to from the manual. In that case, signal 201 never clears, and the train just sits there.

Apologies, you're quite right - no slot needed Southbound into Totton N. Yd. I should have read your post properly. I was referring to Northbound into Totton N. Yd. or any of the other Totton slots. Is there a train waiting to exit the Totton N. Yd. in F2? If not, I'd suggest authorising the driver to pass the signal(s) at danger if the route is correctly and fully set with locking as appropriate.

Thanks to this report I have located a bug regarding signal TT201, in that it requires the track approaching TT127 to be clear (which has nothing to do with TT201) What happens (correctly, kind of), if you've accepted a train from Toton North, by accepting the slot, you will not be able to send a train into the yard from the North. This will lead to a mexican stand off. The only way to avoid it is not to accept a train until you know you be able to deal with it. Log in to reply |
