Hi all, as I left Lincoln for Derby on Saturday I noticed that the signal posts in the Lincoln area have the prefix NL then the signal number. Anyone know what the NL stands for. I know that after the track and resignalling work in Central station control moved, but not sure where to? Just curious.
Cheers,
Mal.

The latest trend is for signal numbers to refer to two ends of a route rather than the point of control - so 'NL' (at a guess) could be Netherfield Jn - Lincoln or Newark - Lincoln. The whole lot's now controlled from the low brick building near the former West Holmes box.

Cheers for that. I'll have to look for said building next time I'm heading out that way. The code threw me because, as you say, it's normally an indication of actual control site (NS New Street, SY Saltley, DY Derby).

i noticed a similar situation at scarborough. its now controlled off a panel at seamer junction (prefix SJ iirc) but all the ex falsgrave (prefix F) signals are now SX prefix which i assume indicates controllled by seamer panel to differentiate

PW = Poole to Wool Panel (Will be part of Basingstoke ASC)
SE = Salisbury to Exeter Panel (Will also be part of Basingstoke ASC)

Not sure when they started this trend.

Bournemouth is BC which you would think is Bournemouth Central. I guess it could be Branksome to Christchurch?
