Hi all, as I left Lincoln for Derby on Saturday I noticed that the signal posts in the Lincoln area have the prefix NL then the signal number. Anyone know what the NL stands for. I know that after the track and resignalling work in Central station control moved, but not sure where to? Just curious. Cheers, Mal. Log in to reply |

The latest trend is for signal numbers to refer to two ends of a route rather than the point of control - so 'NL' (at a guess) could be Netherfield Jn - Lincoln or Newark - Lincoln. The whole lot's now controlled from the low brick building near the former West Holmes box.

i noticed a similar situation at scarborough. its now controlled off a panel at seamer junction (prefix SJ iirc) but all the ex falsgrave (prefix F) signals are now SX prefix which i assume indicates controllled by seamer panel to differentiate

Bournemouth is BC which you would think is Bournemouth Central. I guess it could be Branksome to Christchurch? FF Log in to reply |
