Train running away alarm activated, but cannot see which train was the culprit.
Last moves was om16 to p4,route set for 2b55 to down slow.
Timetable 1977
Not sure if it was a false alarm.

If it helps, I understand that that alarm is activated if a train passes a signal at danger within that immediate area. Not always something to worry about, of-course, as if you've authorised a train to pass signal at danger then you are aware of it and assumedly in-control of it.

i also experienced this with the same train and timetable. took a step back, acknowledged the alarm then reset it. i hadnt authorised anything past at danger but i had routed using the intermediate shunt signals

I have had this a few times (running 1977 timetable) without yet determining a common factor, and I haven't authorised a driver to PSAD. It may have always been light engines and shunt signals, but if so only in particular circumstances because there are a lot of those moves in the TT and most have happened without triggering the alarm.

This should never happen for a signalled move. If it happens to you again, please immediately save the game and email it to me so I can investigate. Thanks.

It has happened to me once, but I assumed I had done something wrong and just reset the alarm and continued.

Had this a couple of times playing the 77 timetable last night. Happened when routing trains over either of the Up Engine Lines. Always signalled moves - not PSAD's.

I don't have a save to hand though I'm afraid.

Having played the 1977 TT, i seem to get this alarm (but not every time) when signalling a joining move into P4 - when the loco gets to the track circuit immediately adjacent to P4 (so it looks like the train is leaving P4), is when the alarm seems to trigger. Like i say, though, it does not happen every time. Hope this helps.

At present i avoid signalling a joining move to P4 unless i have no other moves in the station throat, to avoid changes of aspect to other trains.

Can you use it to recreate the alarm?

What would be ideal is a save just before the alarm happens, plus detailed instructions that will reliably cause the alarm.

I can confirm that I also received a train running away alarm without authorising a train to pass a signal at danger, whilst playing the 1977 TT. I will look through my snapshots to see if I can reproduce it.

I've had this too on 1977, similar circumstances to the above posts - I just thought it was a "feature"!

Clive,
I've had this happen to me on the 1977 tt, saved just before it happened (narrowed it down by playing the same 5 mins time and time again)
i've been able to repeat the alarm being activated every time i ran it through. Dropped you the file and info to recreate it in an email
Hope it is of use for you
Nathan

I had another, it was just as Izzy described - LE on last track circuit before P4 while running into the platform to join train there. I have a save from immediately after the alarm had triggered if it would still help, although I expect that Nathan's pre-alarm will be more useful.

i think we have a common location that causes it, cause mine was from the ULE2 to p4 via j (i think) and was a LE going into the platform to join.

Just to add I have had this happen whilst I had set a route from palatform 15 to the down fast. Signal 15 was green but still recieved the tain running away ? Reset all and the train departed. If I can find the train and other info will let you know just in case it is a bug. Oh yes it was the 1977 tt as well.

Clive, no saves available this time for you (i don't have auto save on) but ihave has the alarm activates on me again, this time i routed a light engine from L65 (the LOS on the up fast in euston throat, train stopped and reversed at shunt signal 25, routed him into p4, and train alarm was activated at the same point again. also had it happen when i routed a LE to L64 (LOS on the up slow) train stopped and reversed at shunt signal 24, routed into p4 and train alarm went off again, again at the same track circuits

Apologies that there are no save games again this time, but hope the info helps

Thanks for these reports. I now have enough information that I've been able to recreate it and can investigate further myself.

Simple typo. Here's a little clue for anyone who wants to work out what was wrong: if you have a route set into platform 2 at the same time, the alarm doesn't go off.

It happens quite often in the '77 timetable - but that's because there are so much loco moves. Maybe that's why it was not noticed using the original timetable.

Sometimes the alarm is not activated when it should. This seems to happen when SPAD'ing trains from/to platform 1 to 3 in case of a failure.

The alarm stating that a train has passed a signal at danger goes off when a train is told to pass a signal at danger? How surprising!

If I read that sentence correctly then the alarm is NOT going off when trains are told to pass a signal at danger.
