Just a thought

Now that Slough New IECC has shut in favour of the Control Centre at Didcot (West of England Control centre I think), would it be possible to produce a sim for the area. Surely a new Tresim product will have been made for the Control Centre which would render the other one out of date.

Interesting point, and one that has some logic.

Though as I understand Geoff's position it's not so much the existance of the facility or not- rather it's the proving the source of the raw data. I.e. TRESIM will still have the raw data even though the box it's used in no longer exists. Not sure what involvement they have with the Didcot CC and whether that is relevant.

The two workstations have become three (adding Heathrow T5 was just a bit too much for the Hayes workstation) but essentially they are substantially the same and so the restriction still applies. The fact a new set of TRESIMs have indeed been made simply reinforces that restriction!

You can see some pictures of the new and original PSB here.

Not sure that the original PSB will make an interesting sim as there aren't that many moves booked from Main to Relief (and vice versa) and on my visit the simplifiers in use were much simpler than some other boxes I have visited.

I think what's under discussion is the whizzy (not quite) new computer game that was in the little brick hut next door, not the electricky apology for a proper signalbox that came to Slough in the 1960s.

(Sorry, my prejudices are showing a bit there  )

Slough IECC covered the area formerly signalled from Old Oak Common panel (commissioned 1967 I believe), which of course - if the data could be sourced and any developer had the inclination - is not barred (the layout was massively altered in the 1990s resignalling). If that were to be done, Slough Panel and Reading (again the old layout) could perhaps be done & it'd be possible to chain sims up to recreate most of the Western Region!

I'd be inclined if the data materialised.
