Is it possible to have places like Doncaster, Leeds & York? I know York's on IECC but I'm sure there's some way round doing it, I live in York myself so I can easily put together a timetable and diagrams of if needed. I hope something can come of it as it's a brilliant place to do a simulation on! Log in to reply |

Doncaster and York were recently discussed here. From what I understand, Doncaster is going to be done sometime. I'm fairly certain there isn't a way around York. Not sure about Leeds Log in to reply |

Despite the same questions being asked by different people with regard to if a sim can be done for certain locations & the same answers given such as no due to conflict of interest etc. Would it however be possible to do a sim on locations like York if it was based not on the modern track layout, but one based on the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s or before lets say when the conflict of interest came into being in respect of the era.

My last Stafford WTT was based on relatively up-to-date schedules yet with a bit of canny operation could be catered for on the old layout as is featured in the Stafford sim. For instance, in reality the section between Colwich Jn and Nuneaton is now totally quadruple track whereas the sim is not. But I was still able to make the WTT work.

Doncaster and York, and I think Leeds, are available from another website which I shaln't mention and isn't anything as good as SimSig, or as cheap...but they are out there. (Feel free to delete or censor this comment)

as an additional thought, although doncaster PSB isnt undoable, it is enormous, however doncaster north, and south, are not so big HINT HINT

My apologies for asking, I am aware it probably still won't be done, but reading above that Euston and Liverpool Lime Street (or was it Liverpool Street?) are pre-recent resignalling, would the recent resignalling/addition of trackwork at York count as a significant change to make the previous not very altered version of York a slight possibility? Again not expecting for a pre2011 version of York to be taken off the list. Probably more just curious as to how much of a signalling alteration would have to be made before York (or any other banned box/sim) as it currently is could potentially become a SimgSig reality. That might not quite make as much sense as I meant it too... And for anyone who isn't aware, the recent change is basically, as far as I can tell, the addition of a direct line from the Down Leeds towards Platforms 9/10/11. Log in to reply |

If the data used to build it is older than the version given to TRESim for their products, it might be possible. However, that would probably be sailing too close to the wind for Geoff's liking, and obviously SimSig can't do anything that could compromise Geoff's job.

what about Newcastle can that be done, for the west coast there are still a few i wonder if they can be done. Crewe, Birmingham new st, Rugby, Carlisle, Preston.cant wait to see whats next on the list when it is done.

Just to underline that in all cases the pre-IECC layouts are legitimate IF anyone can find the information and IF any developers want to do a "historic" layout. But any IECC layout should be considered out of bounds in normal circumstances.
