When I made the original comment/request, I was thinking specifically about the situation at a station where the signaller has inadvertently cleared the wrong signal. In those circumstances, I was wondering about the possibility of placing a call to the platform staff and then after a suitable delay receiving a phone call from the driver or a return call from the platform staff noting that the driver was not present and then being able to replace the wrongly set signal without an ACoA penalty. Indeed, sorry John; as usual the thread has gone off in several different directions at once (with which there's nowt wrong at all, just like any other conversation really) and we suddenly hear a response to someone else's comment. But you're quite right, and I've an idea we wondered about the process (and potential fun & games) for telling a driver a signal was about to be put back on him somewhere up-forum.
