Unable to couple locos at Digswell 18/02/2012 at 17:55 #29671

I am currently playing with one of the Kings Cross 29-01-05 timetables where the Class 373s/91s operated by GNER were dragged between Welwyn Garden City and Peterborough.

Now for some reason, 0S07 for example is sat at Digswell waiting for 1S07 to then work forward as 1S07D but for some strange reason 0S07 is just listed in the Train List as sat at signal 617 and not waiting to couple up to any other train, this is despite both timetables for 1S07 and 0S07 both saying they ought to couple up to each other then work forward as 1S07D.

1S07 is told to pass the signal at danger and I expect it to automatically join with the train in front especially if the headcodes match but neither train looks interested in joining the other.

Why is this? It's been a interesting timetable so far but am banging my head on table trying to work out where I am going wrong.

Do the locations in F2 match each other?

If this is the timetable being discussed the other day, then apparently the timetable is not compatible with the Scrolly KX- but it's being worked on.

See this thread, in particulat posts #4 and #5 may be the answer.

Josie seemed to get it all to work, if you ask nicely she might let you have a copy.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

This was the other issue, that the location names for the down trains are wrong for the current version of the sim. I've fixed those, but I'm still playing it through to check a few other minor things that needed tidying up. I've got to early afternoon so far - If it hasn't appeared in a couple of weeks, give me a nudge again.

The following is posted on EC trains web site for all Sundays in March 2012 (my emphasis)

Until 12.30, track and platform renewal work is taking place at Arlesey, Biggleswade and Sandy, and preparation work for a new flyover is taking place at Hitchin.

This will restrict the number of services able to operate to and from London King's Cross on Sunday morning. Services will operate via an alternative route and journey times will be extended by approximately 70 minutes

There is a link to a timetable- will be interesting to see what it means on the day. Platform work has already started (extending to 12 carriage lengths) as has the flyover groundwork.

There's a photo in this week's Rail of the Route Learning Loco for this. Apparently HSTs will be used to divert via Cambridge, so no drags. Looking at the tt a couple of trains are starting further North so they would be the electrics. Now maybe the time to think about the extra benefits ther are from electrifying Ipswich to P'Borough for it's strategic freight usage (mind you the freight will be diverted via Lincoln soon so maybe that won't work.)

As I'm using the scrolly Kings Cross, I thought I see if I swap DIGSWELL for WGC DOWN NORTH (REVERSE) to see if this would work - it did and I'm now manually editing the timetables for the Down trains.
