Doing the default tt for Liverpool Lime street and just run in to the two trains that change to BERF and BERTH. As I could not see what to do with the two trains I have checked the lime street part of the forum and the WIKI but nothing is mentioned about what these trains are. There is a forum message that simply states that these two trains or three as there is another in the last part of the tt, that are shown as BERF and BERTH and are trains that are stabled overnight.
My question is do I keep the trains ID's or should the train ID change to a 5xxx ? As I was not sure what to do with the two trains I have shunted , if that is the correct term, the two trains in to the station siding and changed the ID'S to BERF and BERTH ! Used a sticky note to mark where the trains are.

Any info as to what is the correct procedure, only I thought that the tt might have actually sent the trains to Edge Hill or had a tt to place the trains in to one of the sidings at the station?

I might actually have a go at editing the tt to place the trains in to the sidings !

in reality- the description for the next (days) working would be interposed, however that doesnt apply to a 24 hr timetable
personally i remove the TD completely or enter 5z00 5z01 etc, although i cant see a problem with using berth

It would be interesting to hear from the tt writer as to what the wtt stated, though it more than likely gave the next days working, as you said. It would make an easy move in to tt writing to add either a 5xxx to the tt and then add a shunt to move to one of the station sidings.

I have actually used BERF in my TT too, for trains ending in stations and sidings.
For me, it makes it easier when I look at the TT analysis, I know when it says next train error BERF I know that I have finished it and I don't have to hunt it down to see what the error warning is about.

If trains end in a platform then I leave it as is, some have to stable in the platforms anyway

Just realised that train 1F942 joinss the origanal train that ended as BERF ! So some thinking to be done next time I run through this tt. I think next time I will edit the timetable to have the tt run the ecs to the station sidings.

Ok thanks for the info , just had to restart from a save as I made a mess of 1F942 arrival ! I think next time I will leave the BERF and BERTH trains in the platfoms and see what happens.

Any trains with BERF/BERTH are booked to stable overnight in the platforms. I have not put their following days workings as a) it's pointless as the TT doesn't run that long b) in reality they may/probably won't form their nexted 'booked' days workings as the stock would get swapped around to cater for failures/defects etc etc etc c) I'd get critised for having more than 235 warnings in the timetable!

Yes but Noel a warning is a lot better than an error.

Thanks for the info Noisynoel. If this is your tt then I have to say thank you for producing it as it must take , well ages ! As a newbie though I would have prefered the trains to have changed id to a 5xxx and then had them depart as ecs to say Edge hill or the station sidings, but as the tt is taken from the real tt....I think it is the BERF and BERTH in the tt that seems to cause confusion, as there us nothing in the WIKI or else where to tell you what they are!
When I restart the sim I will edit the tt for these trains to move them to the station sidings, maybe not what happens in the real world but..it get round the issue.
As for the 235 warnings, yes I read the post[s] but as I have free product and much better than a certain competitor, which I have bought, I can say the total product is worth playing and I would not let posts like the 235 warnings put you off writing tt's !

Thanks Steamer. Maybe it should be added that BERF stands for BERth Forward (to the next day)

I still don't understand the inconsistency here -seems to me they should all be named either BERF or BERT(H), without mixing the terms in the same timetable.

BERF just stands for berth with the TH replaced by an F to accomodate 4 digit TD's, nothing more nothing less. As for the inconsistency, well, it's because I cahnged my mind half way through.. nothing more, nothing less.

Please stop over analysing everything! I am only a human, I make mistakes (235) and occasioanlly change my mind on a wim!

Sorry Noel, thanks for explaining. Can't remember who said the F in BERF meant Forward. Clear now.
