I did use the search facility first but, could find no mention of it. Bradford Lane Junction, just outside Bradford Interchange station, works to Halifax and Leeds Panel at York IECC (Does that prevent it's being done? I'm not sure.) There is/was a freight service, of sorts. Scrap metal trains used to run round, in P1. There are also the occasional steam charters. In leaf fall season, the RHTT's visit, due to the 1in50 climb out of the station. These seem to lay-over for at least an hour or so. Possibly for crew rest(?) breaks. Otherwise, it is quite a simple service. A train arrives from the Leeds or Halifax direction and reverses. It then runs out on the opposite route. The tricky bit would be regulating at the junction, as trains could conflict with each other. Especially if something is running late. Log in to reply |

i would imagine the signalling towards leeds hasnt changed much from leeds PSB so that data could be sourced. i can certainly see provision for an interesting sim, especially going back a bit a few years

" said:i would imagine the signalling towards leeds hasnt changed much from leeds PSB so that data could be sourced. i can certainly see provision for an interesting sim, especially going back a bit a few yearsI think you are right about the fringe arrangements. The fringe is at New Pudsey station and the old Leeds PSB signal is unchanged as is the plate - still plated as L which is common for York IECC (e.g. Church Fenton signals are still plated CF). Not sure how interesting a sim it would be in its own right, particularly as NX. In real life there is an IFS panel and it still has Absolute Block working to Halifax. This link has an early 70's diagram. Recent resignalling has enhanced the layout to allow simultaneous arrivals from Leeds and Halifax. http://www.lymmobservatory.net/railways/sbdiagrams/mill_lane_junction_q50.jpg Would be a good sim with Halifax, Milner Royd and Healey Mills added - maybe Huddersfield as well. Andrew, The AB section could be useful, to newcomers, for getting an experience of AB working. Then, if/when they move onto to a larger sim, with multiple AB sections, they have an (better) idea of how it works. Might it be possible to do Bradford MLJ with the option to iclude/exclude the other boxes suggested above? That way, you could start with just MLJ and then, when you have improved, expand it to incluce some or all of the optional boxes. Log in to reply |

If you go back in time, Mill Lane is also interesting, and at different times worked 4, 3, 2 or 1(=current) absolute block sections. Here is a diagram from 1960 http://www.lymmobservatory.net/railways/sbdiagrams/milllane1960_c_q50.jpg The West (LYR) side of the old Exchange closed first (by about March 1972) to allow construction of the new Interchange Station. For some time, trains only used the east (GNR side) of Exchange. This then closed, and then from January 1973 to 3 June 1973, Mill Lane was a terminus, worked from the frame, with the layout a peculiar hybrid of old and new. (sorry - I don't have a diagram for this which I can put on the website). The IFS panel came into use on 3 June 1973. (just to add to this variety of configurations, in AB days Mill Lane could also switch out, and according to the 1961 Signal Box hours of opening booklet, did so from 0550-1630 Sunday and 1900-0500 Sunday Monday!).
