Another fantasy timetable offer.. Exmouth! 06/04/2012 at 10:00 #31287 | |

By complete coincedence Dave, I'd like to offer up another part of a timetable.. Exmouth TT Add-On v1.4 Intended for use in multiplayer games to 'liven up' the Exmouth Jn panel, This TT re-times all services on the panel. All services use platform 1 at Exeter St Davids and the New Yard. Topsham receives 4 trains per hour to Exeter St Davids and a shuttle service (a PPM) operates through the central Exeter stations. To be integrated into a full TT, Paignton-Exmouth and Barnstaple-Exmouth trains would need to be altered to not use p1 at EXD and turned around early to not run to Exmouth. It's impossible to run this TT on time, especially around Exmouth Junction, but as it I said before, it's just a bit of fun for MP games. The TT is currently written and is in testing. If anyone wants to integrate it into a timetable they are making, that would be great. Thanks Log in to reply |

Hate to break it to you, but Exmouth is on the Exeter simulation not the Bristol. I don't see the point of a timetable that can't be run on time? It's literally just running trains up and down the line as quickly as you can without a usable timetable. Perhaps this needs to be looked into to make it a little more usable? Log in to reply |

It's physically impossible to get a 15-minute frequency through the Topsham - Exeter section. I've done my best The point of this timetable is to put more services into the Exmouth Jn panel of a multiplayer game. I was considering merging it with another Exeter TT if the response was good. can a mod move this thread, sorry >.<

Might be able to manage 20 minute interval, although would still be a little tight. You could add more trains into the Pinhoe section and turn them back in the bay at Central. Log in to reply |

The most you can get (without stacking trains at Exmouth Jn) is a 30 minute frequency on the EXMJN - EXM part. Whilst I value the effort put in, Exmouth Jn is just one of those panels that can get repetitive and there isnt much that can be done about that. You have a bit more flexibility with Crediton though, with the Okehampton Branch and turning trains back at Crediton etc. "Signalman Exeter" Log in to reply |

Could it be speeded up by taking some stops out of the longer distance trains - ie call Exeter St Davids, Exeter Central, St James Park, Topsham, Exmouth only?

If you wanted to speed things up (with some degree of realism) you could do what FGW do with some of the Exmouth trains ex Barny and run them fast from EXD - EXM. E.g Exeter St Davids, Exeter Central, Digby and Sowton, Topsham, Lympstone Village and Exmouth. That could (possibly) get a 20 minute service in, but then its a case of is the service necessary? Trains only wait at Exmouth Junction for about 2 minutes. They come to this point every 2 hours each. Otherwise it runs fine. Its my first timetable. should I upload it? :) Re Stephen: Putting another train in would mean using another platform at Exeter St Davids, and I was trying to leave other platforms open for Paignton and Barnstaple services. Sam: No, the service is not necessary, in the same way that putting a failure in using F11 is not necessary and 2 out of the 4 tph are run fast Topsham - Exmouth Junction, and northbound trains call only Topsham (Exton has an occasional northbound service). this is to maximise layover at Exmouth. Is it possible to squeeze a 15 minute service down the branch? I'm sure we looked at it when we first wrote the project X timetable but quickly shelved the idea.

Trains stopping only at Lympstone Village seem to be booked around nine minutes each way between Topsham and Exmouth - so realistically, even a 20min frequency isn't going to be practical (especially if you still want to serve the other stations, even on an occasional basis) assuming a turnaround of 3 or 4 minutes at Exmouth. Turning every other train at Topsham might give you some chance of achieving 4tph at least that far - but there's no signalled turnback move (and I think it'd be too tight on the Exmouth Jn - Topsham single line).

it's about 2 min too tight on the Exmouth Jn - Topsham section, this is where the impossibleness to run to time comes in. Yes, every other train is turned around in Topsham. The driver calls up when he's ready to start. It is possible but in the loosest meaning of the word! Log in to reply |

hate to talk to myself, but v1.6 is done. Edits: >class 5 trains are less loosely timed Re-timing of 2D0-3X trains: looser timed Exmouth Jn - St Davids with Polsloe Bridge and Digby & Sowton removed, 2C0-3X trains still stop at these stations however. This lessens the conflict with 2A0-3X trains at Exmouth Jn. Attached is a .zip containing the .xlsx timetable and the WTT file. Feedback would be welcome. More trains to be added in v1.7  Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |
