I noticed while at Hitchin yesterday that when a service from Kings Lynn or Cambridge went though Platform 1 then onto the Up Fast, this signal was green with the feathers lit indicating the route - my question is why in the sim is it approach controlled as in held at a red until the train reaches a certain speed before it goes green? Never really noticed this before but as I had time yesterday I noticed it. Log in to reply |

Might have changed when they moved the US to UF crossover South a few years ago and increased the speed limit across it. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

The signal was changed when the crossover was moved as the crossover speed is much higher than the old one. The sim replicates the older layout at Hitchin - the crossover from Up Fast to Up Slow immediately south of the one in question on the sim (but positioned north of the new one) was removed many years ago for example.

Small point Ajax, but the control is based on the train's position (i.e. when it strikes in on the relevant T/C), not directly on its speed. Of course holding the signal at red will have the effect of lowering the speed. Ray Last edited: 13/05/2012 at 04:30 by pilotman Reason: error Log in to reply |
