Is 6 Ruddington on the GCR? because that is where 47 765 is stored

Nope. As a clue, this photo was taken about two years ago, and not at the GCR.

STEA9 reminds me of somewhere around Tebay and a disused viaduct you can see heading off eastwards towards Appleby if I recall correctly. It's years since I've been up the WCML.

Peter
Low Gill (Ghyll) viaduct. Just south of Tebay. Where the line from Clapham Junction joined the WCML. That's THE Clapham Junction. Not that imposter, down near the village of London!
That's the one......

Here's a couple from me: one of signalling interest, and one that ... well, is basically just a nice landscape with some railway in it.

FP-1A (I did edit out the signal number):

I’m going to give PGB08 another guess – somewhere in Palestine, maybe Bethlehem?

STEA7: Is this the mainline platforms at Retford? I was only ever there at night…

STEA7 looks like Preston at the south end................on the "slow lines"
When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. Someone sneezed at Swansea - 2A. A driver complains the cab is too cold - 2A. Unable to operate a HEx service 4 vice 8 - 2A. Points failure at Ipswich - 2A. Landslip at Pitlochry - 2A

Well done! Photo was taken from south end of platform 3, with platforms 1 and 2 on the right in the background. The train, which failed earlier that morning, is standing on the Up Goods. Those lines don't see much use now- all the freight passes through the platforms, since they have higher speed limits.

No, its not Palestine, but very close. This is the main station a capital city!

If that's the capital, with that flag, it must surely be Amman!

Correct. Its the Hejaz (or Hedjaz) railway station in Amman. Visit to muesum and shed tour is 1 Jordanian Dinar (90p). Passenger trains to Dera'a on the Syrian border leave 08:00 Mondays and Thursdays. The 99km journey takes 5 hours. The line originally ran from Damascus to Mecca. They run steam trains on charters (and probably on the service train if the diesel is broken).

As this topic has gone a bit quiet, here are a couple of clues to the pictures I posted in #453.

One of them is in one of England's most northerly counties. The other is in one of England's most southerly counties.

One of them is on a preserved line; the other isn't.

Think FP-2 is Corfe Castle on the Swanage looking across at the railway and the castle remains.
