The points have failed at S-o-T terminal between the up and down lines. The points are locked to switch between the up and down. 6T19 is due to go to the S-o-T. Therefore, I locked points to route wrong line all the way. However where it is in the attachment the timetable states it has run out of valid track ? Yet all points have been locked to allow the move to happen ? Log in to reply |

Probably because a section of track is not coded for movement in that direction. (unable to see the detail in the attachment)

As Andy mentions, the screen shot doesn't show enough detail to see exactly what you've done. However, you cannot just run trains on the opposite lines willy nilly. In real life this would not happen as there would have to be a considerable amount of paperwork and infrastructure in place. SimSig can be made to simulate this but generally its done as a scenario. What you can't do is just decide to send a train down a line with no signalling in that direction on a whim. The likelihood is, as Andy points out, is that the Track circuits do not have any data for the direction you are trying to run and thus it runs out of valid track.

Actually, apart from some very old sims, running wrong-line is automatically coded into each sim. However, at complicated track circuits the automatic coding only handles exactly-reversed moves. Imagine a track circuit where there is are trailing points from a loop followed by facing points to a branch, but the sim author saw no reason to code for a train coming from the loop and going to the branch. The automatic coding will handle wrong-line moves along the main line, from the main line into the loop, and from the branch on to the main line, but it won't handle one from the branch to the loop because that's not the reverse of a move specifically coded into the sim. This will cause the error message reported. Log in to reply |
