I wondered if there was any timetable imports that could connect to http://www.openraildata.info/
and do an import at least partially of a WTT?
I wont go so far as to suggest you would use SimSig to see live train locations, but I will write it and leave it here as a thought.

For live train locations see http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps

It would appear from that that 1M16 the sleeper from Inverness is running over an hour late at Watford.

I vaguely recall a post a while back (searched for it with no luck - may have been before move to new forum) in which GeoffM used live data to plot the progress of real trains within the SimSig platform. (I think he used SwinDid IIRC.) No routes were set but the trains' TDs moved from TD berth to TD berth in relation to the location of the real trains. I think it was just an experiment with no plans to release anything but demonstrated what could be done with the data.

...or maybe it was all just a senile dream.

There are some diagramms on ott
http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/U3/1
Which I think are influenced by iecc looking displays.
There done in SVG with some fancy javascript.
The data from network rail must be pretty good as the little help file on the maps indicate that it can display if a route is open or closed.
Pity cant access the raw data, would be interesting to see what is really broadcast,
maybe a live SimSig would be possible?

Um, I don't think it was me/SimSig unless you mean very recently (I did manage to populate a couple of areas with the TD feed from Network Rail), and I didn't make it public! The website mentioned above with a couple of areas uses the same data feed - but routes would only be possible if the TD supplied that information (not very common). The TD feed is also limited to certain classes of trains (1, 2, 3, 5, 9 I think) and don't show steps into sidings very often so the TD gets left behind on the main line until it gets overwritten by something else.
