A really good idea. However there is some confusion. The site I normally use for obtaining data for TTs carries trains at Tiverton Parkway that terminate at Platform 1 and then start again from Platform 2 but there is no working to get the train from P1 to P2. I would therefore have to either:

1. Insert extra workings to put the train from P1 to P2
2. Curtail everything to Taunton

For extra confusion, OTT suggests that there were actually some through workings, albeit a limited service. Does anyone know for sure what the score was?

From a quick look Dave everything turned round at Taunton, and Exeter St Davids.

the train will shunt ECS via tiverton loops most likely. open train times wont show shunts, the same as it doesnt anywhere else.

OK thanks guys. Just for confusion, according to Open Train Times, XC were running through from Bristol TM to Exeter & beyond via. Cowleuy Bridge. On the BBC News earlier they did show the track cleared of water but I think it unlikely that anything ran through CBJ!

Another thing. Having looked at the TT editor it gives reverse options for Tiverton Junction North and Tiverton Junction South. To get trains to reverse on the down (Exeter-bound) side which one would I use?

You could also maybe factor in some engineers trains to repair the damage. Lots of trains into Fairwater with onward movement to Cowley Bridge

"Rev Tivrtn Jn S" would be the one on the Exeter bound side although I think it would be feasible (I've not tried it) for trains to reverse at Tiverton Junction itself - sig.633 or Sig.635(DPL).

Not to mention that FGW trains & traincrew are authorised & sign the route via Pinhoe & Honiton (a la 1A94 yesterday), so could have some diverts in?
When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. Someone sneezed at Swansea - 2A. A driver complains the cab is too cold - 2A. Unable to operate a HEx service 4 vice 8 - 2A. Points failure at Ipswich - 2A. Landslip at Pitlochry - 2A

Great idea guys. Will possibly have to wait a bit to insert those diverts due to the fact that OTT still has the times via. Cowley Bridge for 1A94 but I will certainly bear this in mind.

On another thought it would appear that there are no Exeter - Barnstaple rail replacement services for at least some of the day on Christmas Eve: OTT is only showing an hourly replacement service between Exeter and Yeoford! But to be fair I suppose that Stagecoach are providing a replacement rail service of sorts anyway...

From what I've seen on another forum, flooding on the roads is making it difficult for buses to get through on some routes.

I was working at Exeter St Davids yesterday so will gladly help anybody with any information you require. Nothing ran to Tiverton from Taunton as FGW didn't provide a shunt driver at Tiverton Loops. Only 2 HST's diverted via the Southern while I was working, 1A94 and 1Z87 (vice 1C87) That was a farce! The 18:26 EXD - WAT failed between Pinhoe and Hontion with brakes stuck on, resulting in the single line being blocked and 1A94 being stuck at Pinhoe, and 1Z87 stuck at Honiton! I left at 19:30 just as the unit had started to move towards Honiton.

Current service status from work is thus - and its not looking good

Line closures / problems (an overview) : UPDATE @ 10:00

With Weather forecast predicting further heavy rain in the West Country for the next 36 hours+ advice to customers seeking to travel to / from Devon & Cornwall remains NOT TO DO SO as with any further deterioration to roads / rail infrastructure it would not be possible to guarantee to be able to get them to their destination.

Note - Following situation in summary form - will update as and when significant updates received.

Exeter SD - Tiverton PW : LINES CLOSED - EARLIEST POSSIBLE REOPENING IS 28th DECEMBER. Revised train plan with services terminating / starting Exeter SD & Tiverton PW or Taunton with road transport between those points, BUT SEE BELOW.......

Exeter SD - Newton Abbot : Due to a landslip at Teignmouth BOTH LINES NOW CLOSED in both directions. It is possible Up line may reopen early afternoon to allow single line working.

Chipping Sodbury (Swindon - Bristol PW) : Direct lines BOTH CLOSED - Paddington to Swansea services in both directions will be diverted via Box with no additional calls (Cardiff services are not running) but journey times extended accordingly. After approx 10:00 South Wales services will not call at Bristol PW but will call additionally at Patchway. Road transport operates Patchway to Bristol PW.

Par - Newquay : LINE CLOSED - EARLIEST ESTIMATE FOR REOPENING IS NOON TODAY- Original problem site now handed back as flood water receded but P/Way now discovered a hole below the track at 282m 59c so line still closed. Road transport will be in place but local road conditions are making it impossible to serve some stations on the line owing to flooding.

Liskeard - Looe : LINE CLOSED - STILL NO ESTIMATE FOR REOPENING. Road transport is in place, its operation is subject to local road conditions.

Exeter SD - Barnstaple : EARLIEST POSSIBLE REOPENING IS 28th DECEMBER - Replacement road transport booked to cover but the line and general area badly affected by flooding so cannot guarantee to serve all stations.

Taunton - Castle Cary : Flooding - 5mph speed restriction over quarter mile of track on the Up line. Down line ok.

St Erth - St Ives : LINE SUSPENDED due to broken down train. Limited road transport available but its operation is subject to local road conditions.

Ticket restrictions eased to allow customers with tickets booked for 22nd and 23rd to travel at any time up to and including 24th December.

Dibbs

When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. Someone sneezed at Swansea - 2A. A driver complains the cab is too cold - 2A. Unable to operate a HEx service 4 vice 8 - 2A. Points failure at Ipswich - 2A. Landslip at Pitlochry - 2A

Wow !! that's a major amount of disruption down West then . Must be a nightmare if you haven't got a car and even if you do still no guarantee of getting through. Not too surprised at the Badminton Route being closed again. We've had heavy rain in Swindon all morning and looks set for the day

Dibble, missing flooding between Yate and Cam and Dursley! :D

Either way having observed the chaos from Newton Abbot station it's the worst I've ever seen.

If this timetable is to include landslips on the Teignmouth sea wall, the sim should have the trip wire alarm for that stretch as well.

We went for a walk along the sea wall on 25th Dec and NR and contractors were hard at work, clearing undergrowth to remove more earth and get a better slope, together with clearing watery mud from the foot of the slip. I'll post some pics later, but the camera USB lead is at work.
