I am just playing the Edinburgh sim, but a couple of queries. I do apologize if I am asking something that has already been asked, bu I have looked in the forum and seen nothing that helps me.

Should a head code be automatically inserted as a train enters a platform that detaches on the front, say 1E43 detaches 0E43 front, such as how it does on the Kings Cross sim?

Secondly, should ARS automatically set a route on a TRTS indication, or is this not prototypical?

I *think* ACI on ARS simulations can handle divides, however it's probably best to double check that the divide is handled correctly.

ARS setting routes in response to TRTS is prototypical.

Real world ACI only handles the equivalent of "Divide rear". SimSig supports more types of divide but there are limitations on what it can do with the berths available - particularly when there are not enough berths! (Also prototypical). The sleepers at Edinburgh are optimistic for ACI to say the least and likely requires manual intervention on the real thing.

ARS waits for TRTS and departure time (up to a predefined time before departure time), as well as a multitude of other factors. Also prototypical.

I could well be wrong, but I have an idea that the ARS on Edinburgh works off the TD displayed on the screen, not the TD held if F2 (i.e. if the wrong TD is displayed on the platform, ARS will not set the route for the actual train).

Yes, as per real life. Just interpose a TD without any track occupancy and watch ARS set routes (subject to TRTS, departure time, regulation, and other factors).

Thank-you for the clarifying. I was just kind of expecting it to work in the same way as Swindid. As I got further into the TT, I found that TRTS did trigger ARS.

If its more realistic, then even better

Finally, postal, yes it does work off the screen ID rather than F2 ID

I also think, if I have my time-line correct, that ARS was revamped between Swindon and Edinburgh, so there maybe slight differences in operation.
