I was standing waiting for a train at Highbury Islington on Friday night about 21:00 when I saw the above units heading towards Stratford does anyone know if this is a timetabled move as it had passengers onboard

the VSOE British Pullman isnt a unit, or set of units, its a loco hauled train, as is the northern belle (operated by VSOE). I think you may have answered your own question - if it had passengers on, it would be timetabled.

all trains in essence are timetabled, even if they are VSTP paths....
