Phil Deaves' web-site may supply the information you want.

I don't think Waterloo Sim uses official tiplocs, it's old code.

I can post a list later on.

Without knowing exactly what you are trying to do and how I can't answer definatively answer that point.

However:
If you are trying to automate the process by converting an official file then you can't.

If you are trying to create a Timetable using the in-built editor then you don't need the TIPLOC save to interpret the data source (assuming it's written in TIPLOC) which will be a manual process.

If you are looking for the Sim location codes (generally TIPLOC these days) so you can use the Convdata method then I can let you have them this evening if I remember.

In the same way as a lot of the TTs used in SimSig are created. Start the sim with no TT selected then go into F4 and start manually entering the train types and train TTs using the locations which the drop down boxes generate.

Beware that there are pitfalls in the way that the TT is saved. If you save a snapshot, edit the TT a bit more, save the TT then close down, the saved game does not retain the last batch of edits. If you then reload the saved game and save the TT after that you will overwrite your previous edits in the saved version of the TT.

Edit: Peter posted while I was typing. You also need to remember that currently Convdata will not convert TTs from .sim files as the data format is slightly different.

Peter,
I am trying to create a TT for Waterloo Sim in a text editor, then use covdata to convert across, so would greatly appreciate a list of TIPLOCs to use for this.
Thanks Peter

You could create a dummy train in the WTT editor using all the locations , save it and convert it using convdata.

If I did that I would get the 'no path between x and y' error

Just convdata any Waterloo timetable to text format - and you can use any sim to do so. It's not like there are hundreds of locations or entry points.

I think you are making it all a little harder than it needs to be. I've just followed Geoff's advice and used Convdata to create a .txt file from the 17 Jan 2004.wtt. This shows the locations as recognised by the sim, be they TIPLOC or other. I've then taken that .txt file and used Convdata to create a new differently named .wtt file. This works fine on the sim so the locations as suggested by Geoff transfer back into .wtt format perfectly well.

Further to Postal's remarks....

I am not sure how a list of TIPLOC codes helps other than if you need it to retrieve the TT information in the first place. As was already mentioned, the locations in the sim don't use TIPLOC codes. Your text file will need to use whatever location codes are in the sim as ConvData can ponly make use of codes that the sim already knows about.

If your TT data is by TIPLOC then you will need to manually convert the TIPLOC to the equivalent location code in the sim and use that in your text file. You can get the sims location codes, as was mentioned before, by converting an existing TT and extracting the location codes from it.

It's not formatted very well but that's them.

I could add AKA code to allow the "real" TIPLOC to be recognised in future.

I think the confusion has arisen because, generally, these days the Sim labels for locations are the real TIPLOCs and for ease we can refer to the Sim LOCs as TIPLOCs but that is a misuse of a term of art.

I can generate a LOC report for the WIKI in the correct format but I can't find the output file. I'll update the Wiki when I find it.
