Would it be possible to have a broadcast all feature to alert trains to a failure, I've a game at the moment with over 30 trains stopped/just moving and constantly ringing in, it be useful to broadcast messages such to let the drivers know that they'll be on the move as soon as and to stop bothering me!

It don't work like that in real life, you still get plagued with calls even after a general call/broadcast.

The general message that only half hear, followed by the individual calls of "What's wrong?"
Then when it's all cleared up, the general call that only half hear, followed by the individual calls of "Is it still broken?" That's using LUL's equivalent radio, and speaking (theoretically) to a lot more trains.

Yeah, while it's not realistic to expect every train to simply obey a 'there's a failure, don't call me' request, I'd be in favour of longer times between drivers calling back, i.e. 'Wait 30 minutes for signal to clear before calling back' or even 'Wait 60 minutes...'

This would be especially on a sim like SwinDid where a 7xxx crawler might show up 70 minutes early just before peak, you put him away somewhere around Swindon, and the next decent gap to send him down towards Didcot won't be for another 40 minutes or so. In that case, it would be great (and also realistic, in my experience) if we could issue a permanent 'Yes I know you're there, wait on signal' instruction.

And as much as you may tell them not to phone you, the rules state that they must periodically ensure that the signalman is aware of their presence, even when track circuits are in place.

(Quite how the old Rule 55 is actually worded these days, I haven't the faintest)

I figured there'd be something obscure about it. Do you (or does anyone) know whether the rule states a specific timeframe? That might be why we're limited to 15 minutes...
