Light Engine joining a train raised this one (see Rules HELP in Timetable chat). Additional rule that is not so obscure as the AppAfter options of setting "X"=0. Something along the lines of "T: must NOT run IF Y: NOT run." Dave M. Log in to reply |

You can use the 'must appear x minutes after y leaves/passes/enters etc etc' rules for that. If the train never passes a certain location, because it didn't run the rule won't trigger the train to enter.

My point is that this needs explaining to get the effect I was after. My idea was to have a new rule statement that is straight forward. It would use the basic code of the present rule, but would auto insert the "X=0" into the calculation. Dave M. Log in to reply |

I understand the logic behind what you're asking, but I'm a bit reluctant to have two rules named differently that do exactly the same thing. Eventually someone not privvy to this conversation will ask "but why are there two rules that do the same thing?". Probably best to have a kind of FAQ in the Wiki that says, "if you want to do X, use rule Y", where X covers a number of situations. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

It was looking through the Wiki and not finding anything to cover this and then finding other's had had the same problem, so adding to the Wiki explaining this would do for me. Dave M. Log in to reply |

OK. I have added an extra bit to the Wiki in the Rules section (ArrAft). Please take a look and edit if you think it needs changing. Dave M. Log in to reply |
