I am having difficulty with some trains passing this signal coming from the depot it shows as green but trains just sit at the signal until I SPAD drivers pass it I am wondering if this is a bug.

Authorise him to pass at danger? a SPAD is an unauthorised movement past a signal at danger.

I haven't had this issue, which timetable is it, is it affecting all trains, and is ARS on or off?

I've always worked on the basis that a "SPAD" is a "Signal Passed At Danger" and nothing more than that until more information is included. For example a "SPAD due to signalling failure." To often I hear "I've spadded, or I have spad" which when you think about it, and read the whole sentence without the abbreviation, is an incorrect use of the abbreviation. "I have signal passed at danger -ed". "I have signal passed at danger."

Anyhow, which signal VL22 is causing the problem - there are 2: VL22A and VL22B. Make sure you have selected (or ARS has selected) both signals.

I haven't previously and can't now find any issues with either signal VL22A or VL22B signals.

You may want to bear in mind that to be able to set a route from VL22A, either:

  • Signal VL24 (on the line from Tottenham Hale) needs to be ON (no route set from it)

  • or
  • Signal VL6 (from Seven Sisters Platform 4) needs to be ON (no route set from it); or no route set to it (from VL1); or no train occupying Track Circuit TRA / TRABRBCRD (Seven Sisters Platform 4 TC)

else there is nowhere for the overlap beyond VL22B to go.

Which VL22 signal exactly?! VL22A or VL22B??

Thanks firstly many apologies for use of wrong terminology trains just sit at the Sig even when it is showing green aspect the ars is on and its the normal mon-Fri WTT I will admit its not all trains but a few which causes blocking back to the depot and affects trains going S/B from Walthamstow I hope this clarifies the question I trying to put out there for other SimSig users

Are you trying to route into Platform 4 or 5 at Seven Sisters?

If 4 then you can't do so with a route set into that platform from the other end (from Signal VL1); you'll also find it not possible to get a route either to or from VL22B if you've also got a route set from VL24 ('the line above' coming from the Tottenham Hale direction) at the same time.

If 5 then you need to ensure Signal VL24 is ON (no route set from it).

Do bear in mind if you've not enabled route setting upon startup then you'll probably have to look at the signal stems (little L shaped things by the aspects) to see if a route is set from them or not.

I think you need to post a screen-shot when it happens. As has been said there is quite a lot of conditional route setting all over the place where you can't set routes if other routes or TCs are occupied and so on, even if it's not obvious there's a clash.

I think I know the problem. I had a similar issue but solved it.
The problem is the train describer "passes" the previous signal VL22A (but in fact the train has not).
So if you have problems clearing VL22b, the chances are you just need to clear the signal in rear (Vl22A)to VL22B and hey presto ... Duncan.

I think I've had the same problem with these two sigs. Under ARS it seems to become confused and on a couple of occasions has let trains arrive at Seven Sisters P5 out of sequence. I have tried duncan89's suggestion and solved the problem in a couple of instances, but for now I'll manually control Seven Sisters and any hiccups will be down to me.

Seven Sisters is often done manually by the "signallers" in the control centre in real life since you need to slot in the trains and the automation is often unable to do it to the preferred standard.

Thanks for that, you've made an old man feel a little better. I see the point as there is usually only a minute between arrivals to P5 and ARS seems to try to set routes both from depot and from Tottenham Hale.
Cheers,
Mal.

In reality, in addition to auto route-setting, the system is equipped with junction settings. There are options to set certain signals controlling the junctions to route everything to timetable order (regardless of any lateness) to route to timetable order as far as possible, or to route anything that approaches the junction regardless of timetable order.
The real installation (at the time the sim is set) had limits in how this was controlled, and SimSig itself also has differing limits. Therefore at times when trains are entering frequently from the depot, extra attention will be needed when getting everything in order at Seven Sisters. You can't just sit there and let it get on with it otherwise what else would you be doing

Thanks for the additional info metcontrol. I've decided to make myself useful and will now manually control Northumberland Park and 7 Sisters. So far going great guns.
