Has any one any info on what loco or dmu type worked what services in 1977 at Liverpool Lime Street?
I would gather that:
Euston class 87 with Mk2 air stock.
Birmingham New street - class 86 Mk2 air or Mk1 vac stock.
Eastern region-Newcastle / Scarborough / York / Leeds - Class 44/45/46 and 124[4 car] dmu. Mk1 vac stock.
Eastern region - Norwich class 31 mk1 vac stock
Scottish region- Glasgow class 50 Mk1 vac stock
Carlisle - class 40.Mk1 vac stock.
Western region-Penzance / Bristol TM / Cardiff class 47. Mk1 vac stock
Blackpool North class 31 Mk1 vac stock.
Preston 110 3 car dmu
Wigan class 101 / 103 / 105 2 car dmu
Manchester Vic / Stalybridge 101 dmu
Manchester Oxford Rd 101 dmu
Crewe 304 4 car Emu
Warrington Bank Quay 101 dmu

Also any info on how often the services ran aka hourly or half hourly and approximate arr and dep times?

You 'may' have found that the North Transpennine workings would have had Deltics on them, not 100% certain when the 55's started doing turns over the top.

Euston services - Cl.85-87 (quite a bit of variety)
New St./cross country services - 47/4s or Cl.85-86
transpennines to newcastle/scarbro - Cl.45/46 (not class 44s!)
Transpennine DMUs will be CL.124 5 cars.
Glasgow/carlisle - Cl.47/4s or possibly 40s (50s were down south by 1977, they left around 1973/4)
loco hauleds to preston/warrington would be 25's
unsure on norwich workings
Blackpool North would be Cl.25s

thats taken from my research for a 1974 timetable

Paul. CL.55s worked TPS around 79-80 while Penmanshiels was blockaded, as HST's took most diagrams, leaving them "spare"

Trans-Pennine loco hauled services were definately not Cl.44 hauled. Trans-Pennine services were worked by Cl.40s, Cl.45s, Cl.46s & Cl.47s. Deltice as previously stated worked Trans-Pennine services when they were allocated to York in the final years of service. All class of AC electrics from Cl.81 to Cl.87s were employed on WCML services.

Guys,
For (Deltic) Class 55 workings by year can I recommend the following web site.

http://www.napier-chronicles.co.uk.

This excellent web site will give you the booked workings by years, what they may possibly be seen on and a very detailed history of each member of the class including workings and works visits.

I am sure that 1977 was too early for Liverpool - Norwich services. Class 31's never really reached Liverpool until the second ETH batch were converted in the 1980's, when they replaced the Transpennine Class 123/124 units on the Hull services.

Transpennine loco hauled services could be class 40/45/46/47

Class 44's were allocated to Toton and only used on freight trains by then. I remember seeing them at Nuneaton on coal trains about then.

AC electrics could be any of class 81-87, from my bashing days "roarers" (class 81-85) could turn up anywhere on the AC system, but Euston services were generally class 86 or 87.

Hope this helps

Joe

Cheers for that, didn't realise their use on the Newcastle - Liverpool services were so late
